my kid (middle schooler, not a baby) was in the car

The weak point on those is the jack mounted in the pickguard.
I had a Fender JP-90 that was similar, with just a two ply pickguard.
Using a right angle plug helps to keep it from breaking.
Don't most Fender P-basses have the jack mounted in the pickguard? Do you mean the Fury's design is weaker than most?
Nothing wrong with visiting music stores and pawn shops. It's always good to keep your eyes open to what's out there.I'm going to be the odd man here & say, "If you don't need another, stop going into the shops!".
I bought two basses in quick succession, because I was visiting the shops.
Since I bought the last one I haven't been in the shops & haven't bought any more basses.
It also freed up time for playing/practicing.

your practical attitude is admirable! i just didn't want my vicariousness to go wanting!I'm going to be the odd man here & say, "If you don't need another, stop going into the shops!".
P-bass pickguards are known for cracking at the jack too. That's why I'm glad I have an aluminum guard on mine.
So Doc, you get that bass yet? I've come close to picking up a Fury a few times, myself.

Ain't weed whackers gut strings for double bass ?I was in there looking at deals on lawnmowers and weed whackers.
Doc, is it a USA model? If you decide to pass, please give me the pawn shop location...I'll most likely snatch that thing up!
