About right. Most of their good stuff is on auction sites, just like you or I would do now. My last pawn shop Peavey was a Forum, not like the active Dr. Cheese model but the 90' s P/J version. $135. Even that was an outstanding deal.That too was a casual walk into a pawn shop score.
It's the same way Leslie West used to score Gibson LP Juniors back in the day. He knew what he was getting. They didn't. Same with US Peavey basses. Get them while they last.

Why would Dr. Cheese buy a low cost bass with the sole purpose of flipping it for minimal profit when he can have enjoyment playing and owning it?

A good bass is a good bass regardless of price and brand.

I have given basses away in the past, and people have given some nice basses to me. Gifting basses is nice, but I plan on keeping this Fury.

The closest I have to an 8 pound bass is an eight pound 5 ounce Highway One jazz bass that is the best.

I own a 1997 Fender American Deluxe j-bass with Suhr era electronics that weighs about 7.5 lbs.

Lightweight basses feel like toys in comparison to heavier basses. Anyway, I have a great bass for my senior years. ;)

I took one of you folks advice, and I Superglued the fragments of pickguard to the washer with the jack, and holds just like a solid pick guard. I guess I should order a new one from Peavey, but it doesn't bother me the way it is because this bass has a lot of "mojo" and the tattered pick guard does not look out of place.

I used this bass for a few songs today, and with the tone knob rolled back, this bass is DEEP!:woot:
This might be the first bass that I put Chromes on because they would be incredible on it. I cannot believe how lucky I have been, scoring two killer four strings within six months for a combined $184. My Fernandes and Peavey are really going to make me spend some time shedding on my fours because I am really used to going horizontally and using my B string in church.

4 strings seem to be making a comeback , not that they ever went away for some.
Your Mustang PJ will make 3 added 4 strings for the man who says he is favors the 5 string.
Sometimes less is more and sometimes more is less work .
Enjoy the variety because all of your basses bring something different to the table .

I am a five guy, but fours are fun in way that fives aren't for me. I really, really love fives, but I first learned to play on a four, and fours will always have a place in my heart.
