obviously, everyone is wrong

what you need to do is turn every knob on your bass all the way up, turn all the knobs on your amp all the way up, and be SURE to plug the head into a 50 Watt or smaller cab and play as hard as you can.

but if that doesn't work.... battery

I don't think that this has been covered by anyone yet. There's a good chance that you may need to replace your battery.
You will find it in your bass. It is rectangular in shape and is made of metal.
Please do not confuse it with your bridge.

What kind of finish does your bass have on it? I've heard a nitro finish will cause problems like this. Also, you always need to use a leather strap instead of a nylon strap if you want "good tone" IMOH IIRC

edit: my bass runs on hydrogen

I thought hydrogen robbed a bass of a lot of its low end:confused:
Mine runs on nuclear energy. my second pair of arms thats starting to sprout from my shoulderblades could act as the strap and hold the bass up!! ooh maybe arms will give even better tonality than leather straps !!!!!!!!!!
