My Precision bass wouldn't stoop so low as to contradict your accusations. My Jazz bass on the other hand is offended that you would speak of its brother in such a manner and will therefore accept your challenge to uphold its family honor, and will beat the living $h!t out of your Jazz! HAVE AT YEE.

I'm with you, Kwesi. I have a lot of basses. A lot of basses. And I gig them in rotation. There always seems to be a Jazz-flavored bass at the gig though, and it ends up hogging the stage time.

That said, I just bought a Gretsch, put Thunderbuckers in my Lakland, and am on the lookout for this upcoming Gibson NR Thunderbird...

You just have to deal with the fact that my bass is better than yours... unless your bass is a Jazz bass, in which case, you've made the right choice and may continue playing and enjoying a fine, well-crafted instrument.

Think I'm wrong? Fight me. And proceed to lose because I have a Jazz bass and you have something that is not a Jazz bass and therefore inferior.

Thank you for this thread. I was having a really bad day. After reading this entire thread I can't stop laughing!!!! Ya cheered me up.

I love all basses but my jazz is my favorite!!! It is a Geddy lee, it is bad ass and can kick some major bass booty!!! It is the alpha bass in my bass family!

In all honesty, while a Jazz bay or may not be the best bass ever in the entire world, it does have one thing going for it. No matter what genre of music the band you are auditioning for plays, you won't get turned down based on your bass if you bring a Jazz. Punk, funk, metal, R&B, jazz, blues, hip-hop, rock, and pop all have famous JB players.

I wanna make a bass thats actually 6 strings mounted from floor to ceiling in a skyscraper in the shape of a Jazz bass thats at least 30,000 feet tall.

The rumbling of the strings could reverse global climate change.

If it were anybody else starting this thread,I'd call "Troll",but considering the OP's level of aptitude and familiarity with some seriously high end gear,I'd take his word as the gospel!!





..that and I'm a Jazz Bass guy :D

Well, Kwesi, I'm not sure what you were going for but I have to agree. The basses I've liked best have been "jazz" type (meaning that pickup configuration) and I still have and plan to keep my Geddy Lee. Of all the basses I tried (MIA, MIM< etc.) it was the best sounding, playing and lightest as well.

Will it beat out my new Roscoe Century Custom 5 J for gigs (what few I have)...I don't know. But I did get it out from storage and played it the last couple days and it's a darn nice bass.

Jazz bass is only superior as long as it has both a P pickup and a J pickup like mine does. My P/J 5 jazz can beat anything with just two single coils in it. My P/J5 Jazz has tiger blood, and Adonis DNA.

That would be two big ass pickups. You could do it though, get different companies on board to help to build the world's largest bass and get in Guiness. It would be a good marketing plan for them, and you'd have to pitch it as such. Can I help? The TB community as a whole should help make this.
