I have serious issues with the bass..

OK I just saw this. Well girl, you see I had this "thing" for the bass since age 12. For some F&$g reason I never got one because back then I was a f$&g nerd... UNTIL I WAS ENLIGHTENED about 2 1/2 ago. No regrets baby..save for not telling my dad back then "i wanna bass!" I still play the bass...no band? NO PROBLEM? Besides bassists are on demand more than guitarists and vocalists.

Get up and play girl!!!!!!!!!

guess what all? my dad completely supports my decision to play the bass! yay! So sometime this next week we are going to a nearby city to go look at stuff for me and get something. My dad wants me to get a Rickenbaucher (sp?) whatever that is. But he said that those are really expensive and that um, if I wanted one of those he would help me get it, but only halfway. lmao. Well, anyway.. if anyone knows what a Rickenbaucher is.. tell me! LMAO..

Girl, the Rickenbackers are classic even if weird looking. Now seriously, it may not be the best bass for you. See if you know someone who KNOWS guitars and basses. Also, inquire and question and look and try. At 5' 10" you are tall enough, but each bass has its ergonomics and its feel. See what sounds right and what bass feels best for you, OK? Oh yeah, DON'T FORGET THE AMP. Peavey, Crate, etc. ... check 'em out. Don't forget the strap either (heh heh)...

Oh, and arrange classes or get a couple of instructional videos. Get the scales down. Also, this site and others have bass lessons.

Then let loose and bring on the groove!

if you want to know, in my pics that i posted, the white bass near the bottom is a ric, and the red doubleneck at the very bottom is also a ric.

rics are great basses for girls to play - the scale length is a bit less than standard, so it makes it easier to play than a regular bass. they're pretty light and the string spacing is pretty close, so it's not too hard on your shoulders or fretting hand either.

wow they rock and in australia they are mega expensive, what a dad. anyway the precision is a good choice, if you have the money or thats the one you want go for it, if you want get the sunburst one and for about $7 buy a tortiseshell pickguard and put it in, or if the person you buy it off is kind enough get them to.

You envy Gil, huh? Why is that? lmao.. I've never heard that from a guy before. Maybe a girl saying I wish I looked like him. (lol) You can call me Tal, if you want, but that would be awful strange. My name is Raquel. :D I just kinda like Tal, and I think the way he plays his bass is sexy. :D It's speeecccciiiaaal. Anyway, yeah, I guess then that the Rickenbacker is nice? Everyone seems to freak out about that on here. :) Well, my dad likes to have the best stuff.. esp. when it comes to music. Ya know? Like the best speakers and the best cd players so it would be natural for him to want the best guitar. LMAO.. and in his mind, that guitar would be like his. It's kind of hard to explain. It's like he owns me, and since I'm a kick ass artist (can we say that word? oh well) I'm his source for his tattoos (I personally design them) and stuff like that. So I guess if I had the guitar and learned how to play, I'd be one of those things where he could say to his friends at work: "Hey dude, you gotta come over and listen to my daughter play bass, she's really good." Lmao. He's just like that, though.

This post is like, making my head hurt. What was the point of this thing again? So far, talrawksmyworld has mentioned her lesbian affairs, her incredible lust for basses and their players, her modeling career, her generous artistic ability and her knowledge of the German language. TalkBass should have a "singles" catagory for threads like this.

I noticed y'all like the sunburst thing? Why? I don't really particularly care for it. I saw those Gibson Blue Guitars one time, and they have like blue/green sunburst and that's really pretty, but I'm not fond of brown at all. :P Well, I think I'll name my first one Tal, and for stupid reasons, too. But they aren't stupid to me! lmao. :) And since I don't want anyone teasing my posts (lmao) then I'm not going to mention why. Do any of you guys have like a RB2002 Washburn?

it's an invitation to get flamed even making a list like that, though. there's a whole big thread about it in one of these forums... now which one was it... oh right, "Amps". :D

well i played a washburn 2002 and it was good, the fretmarkers in a different position threw me off for a few bars but then i was able to hold a strady beat of longview...greenday anyone? hehehe
the best amps are anything you can get a hold of, i have an amp but i hardly use it so anything is good just depends on a few things but nothin major.
