Drive is @ 0

Level is @ 3 O'clock

Mix is 1 O'clock to HIGH

Mid is @ 2 O'clock (may have a +/- there)

What are your LOW & MID settings on the small knobs?

I bet you need to spend a little bit more time working with your mid settings to do something you may like. Always think about resetting to "0" and start shaping again.

This was how I was using my B7K (& to some extent the Vintage Deluxe now although I use a bit more of the dirt as it seems more natural/"amp-like" in character for me than the B7K did).

Meh. I de-DGed too recently, and I couldn't care less. I simply acknowledged that it's just not the type of sound I need, no matter how much I dig it. Keeping unused/unnecessary pedals is not my thing. Unless it's a Boss LS-2. For some reason I can't part ways with that even though it's been years since the last time I used it.

Follow up...

Just looked @ this pedal functions...

Your MID knob IS a +/- 12db @ 500Hz

Those small knobs are HPF & LPF that controls how much of your signal is going to be crunched by the DRIVE knob. The MIX goes between the two filers for bringing one up and the other down.

Obviously, the LEVEL = Volume.

You need to perhaps lower the LEVEL and start with the lower knobs straight up, adjust the drive and hit the owners manual and a couple of YT videos!

Problem solved!;)

Hey congrats and nice board! After owning almost every one of their offerings at one point or another I de-Darkglass'd as well and haven't looked back - There always seemed to be a few incredible settings each DG effect had available but it always would be to the detriment of the rest of the chain. Particularly noticeable with the Ultra pre's, I'd find a great clean and dirty settings pair I'd be in love with...hit a fuzz or distortion or octave that was up the chain and it always would sound horrendous going into the DG's.

Love that they were/are bassist focused but the Apple business model coupled with some other QC issues I ran into with a brand new DG amp really turned me off.

Ill give it a another go, and notate what I find. I did spend quite a long time on YT Videos, its really hard to find an actual realistic 'calm' one other than the 99.9% that are of a 5 string Dingwall with the DG drive pegged.

Its not that hard a pedal to adjust. I've had it for a month now and played with every dial. Its just too much, effect wise. Too much BUZZ. That's what it is, its BUZZ. I keep the drive knob at 0 because anything past 0 is even too much more buzz than the buzz that's at 0. I play with a pick and if I pick a D on the A string super lightly, it sounds somewhat ok, but I don't pick super lightly, so that buzz kicks in right after I pick the note. I don't really want to give up (I am on this model pedal though), and like I said, all those YT videos are of the 5 string Dingwall and the drive pegged, and I HAVE a Dingwall I'm using. Anyone on here have a 'tamer' DG pedal that I could look into? I had the Vintage, I don't want fuzz. I like the E string punchy sound using this pedal but I guess its when I get into the mids territory, that's when the buzz is piled on with the one I got now. If I try to EQ it down, its too much mids kill.

It's funny, but my first experience with Darkglass was a Tone Capsule onboard preamp that had messed up shielding during production. At that time there were no units available in the US and the dude sent me a new one and a T-shirt from Finland. I have the T-shirt on the shelf and wear now and then.

It's a sold company, making good products for Bass players in the heaviness of the business. Not all the business is heavy.

I'm kinda surprised how much crap gets dished from the opinionated! Sorta like Tort, the P Bass and roadies who love Ampeg!
