It's the one that sounded the most like a VMT to me. But your point is a valid one. I've seen and heard many players that used DG stuff that you might not even know it at first blush. I first started using mine because an engineer friend had me borrow his VU for a demo. Almost nothing he does sounds like what people instantly think of when they think DG.

I think all the Dingwall YT clips give a false impression of their range.

I can think of worse things i could live without. Dingwalls don't bother me. Burpy sounding soloed jazz bass bridge pickups. If I never hear that again I'd be happy.

I think this has a bunch to do with it. You don't always see DG videos with Dingwalls (as opposed to other brands), but it's so common to see Dingwall videos using DG stuff. It is a killer combo. I had an NG3 myself until recently. No cult, but I couldn't afford to keep buying the strings (online only from where I live).

It has taken me a while to find the right Darkglass device. I wasn't impressed with the B3K or the x7. I have the B7K for a DI but don't use it in my chain anymore. My main head right now is a MT900v2, and I like with with the drive on. The clean tone isn't great.
What I am really digging these days is a Hyper Luminal. It is a pretty awesome compression pedal. I like the HPF feature.

Sorry for the minor derail, but what is the midi controller you are using with the zoom, and what are the limits of its control? I looked into the Disaster Area options never went ahead with it.

Totes. Honestly if I never see another Jacob Umanskyesque type player again I'd be okay. Sure he's skilled, but not interested in anything like that. I'm a hack, I wanna see other hacks, not whatever that guy is doing. There's like throngs of these guys too.

My B3K has been the longest-serving pedal on my board. I've never gelled with the other circuits or variants, and haven’t tried all of them either. After about a decade (wow!) I’m now considering replacing mine. Doug’s built a great company, but all that really matters is that your board works for you.

I scored an early US version B3k 3 years ago, and never looked back. It is my go-to dirt pedal.

I'm not knocking DKglass. I think they make fine products. But it appears to me that they seem to be the gold standard for metal now. Reminds me when the Mesa Big Block was considered to be better for metal than an M-Pulse. I totally disagree. My M-pulse absolutely crushes out a growling metal tone....even without any of my dirt engaged.

In all seriousness, do you think I would like a B3K over my Microtubers X? Do you think the B3K still would give me that punchy/ClingyClangy sound but with a lot less buzz/sizzle, whatever you call it, that is so pronounced in the mids on my Microtubers X pedal?

I don't always Darkglass, but I own five DG pedals (four dirts plus the Harmonic Booster EQ), along with the 900v2 amp, and they're all keepers.

Note: despite my TB handle, I'm not a metal boy. To the contrary: as of 4-5 years ago, I hardly play any metal. So, I'll use DG for blues, country, pop, oldies, classic rock/R&B/funk, whatever.
