I just died a little inside

I do know of another one that I might be able to buy but at about $500 more than I paid for this one. I'll go that route if necessary.

You guys really think that this can be fixed? Any recommendations on a luthier? it may be something that can be brought up to the shop & FedEx as a means to help get this resolved.

There's no doubt that a competent luthier can fix that. Gibsons have similar or worse breaks ALL THE TIME.

Just DO NOT let anyone try to repair it unless they're a well-experienced luthier. A bad repair will create more nightmares than you want to deal with. It's much more difficult to repair someone else's botched fix than to just repair it right the first time.

I recommend Dan Erlewine. He's repaired worse, and you'd never be able to tell that it's ever been repaired. He's expensive, and slow, but he does the job right. He's also the guy that has written several guitar repair books and made several tools available for sale through Stewart McDonald. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Thanks all, I appreciate the luthier recomendations.

Thats a tragedy man, those are great basses too. :bawl::bawl::bawl:
Was it a vintage instrument??

Yes, it's an early model. Beautiful and with a lot of character.

Somewhere along the line, someone added an ashtray cover over the bridge. I've never seen a Swede with one before and I'm not particularly fond of them but I guess that's the least of my worries.

Yes it can be fixed.
Had a 64 T-Bird that looked like that after two drunks knocked it over(early 1980's).
This amazing luthier fixed it BETTER than new:

I would contact him again if EVER presented with such a repair.
