Man, installing these things is a SNAP!!!!

My bench at work is much cleaner than my bench at home. So I swapped the pickups at lunch. Took me 17 minutes from the time I turned the first screw on the guard to tuning it after. I didn't bring an amp so we'll see if they survived the hurricane when I get home. Solderless connectors should be the LAW. EMG really designed this setup well.

Fingers crossed that they actually work when I get home. :D

Ahhh the old Red P. Nice work.

When I put in my Geezer, it didn't have any output at all. I double checked all the connections and compared to the diagram, seemed all good. No sound.

I ended up switching the output jack connections -- then it worked. I mention this because I've seen 4-5 threads on TB where people insist they have DOA pickups from EMG...I think the diagram might be wrong...or we're all doing it wrong.

I'd bet they work fine.

Guess what. They work!!!

They survived a hurricane in a screened in porch and everything was sitting in some water when I found it. And they sound fantastic!

@JimmyM you were exactly right. The combination of Geezers and (semi fresh) Chromes gives it a slight mid forward tone. But I dig it. It's not annoying honky mids, rather the "good mids".

I'm gonna leave it as is for a bit. But I do want to hear this bass with rounds on it now.

Sweet! Those things are encased in epoxy so I'm not surprised they're fine.

Congrats, hope that's the only worry Dorian gave you :thumbsup:

Right on! Glad to hear the pickups survived. And you and your house! We dodged it but you guys ended up getting a little hammered.

We did fine. I spent 6 1/2 hours in my 4 acre yard Sunday picking up sticks, twigs and branches. I filled my 5X8 utility trailer up four times and ran it back to the burn pile. And I still had a lot of little stuff to chew up with an old set of mulching blades.

But no damage to the house or family so I'll take it!

Used the bass last night in rehearsal. It sounded great on a lot of songs (and we play a wide variety).

But I was able to NAIL the Tiran Porter tone on "Takin It To the Streets" using a pick. Everyone in the room looked over and said "Sounds EXACTLY like the recording". Just a little bump on the gain of my SVT and a medium pick with the Geezer and P bass. Man it sounded great.

I am not the least bit surprised, since it was spec'd from Bobby Vega's stock pickup on his 1960 Precision.
