I Must Be Getting Old

Welcome to the fold old timer. Now you get to wear really comfortable clothes, scratch yourself in public and you get to say cool catch phrases like .. "Hey you kids, get off my lawn!!"
Well, when you put it like that, being old doesn't seem too bad!
Alright actually listened. Not my cup of tea at all, but it wasn't bad for what it is. People really are haters
I'm a teenager, and I've given up on most of today's music... I'll stick with Rush, the Beatles, Victor Wooten, and RHCP. So much for talent.

My son is 23 and feels the same way. His first concert was KISS, Aerosmith and Ted Nugent. He has been hooked ever since and won't listen to most new music. He also loves The Beatles, Rush, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppline, The Who, Queen, AC/DC and many other classic rock bands.
I got through about a minute of it and didn't enjoy it. I suppose music (and the value of it) is in the heart of the performer and the audience who appreciates it, so I won't go out and say it was worthless.
Personally, I don't get it, but then again I don't have to "get it" to justify it's existence.
There are quite a few people who would look at songs I like and not understand why. I never liked Punk, I couldn't get into Death Metal, and I only liked the more commercial end of the Industrial trend of the 90's.
I will say one thing, though....as much as I didn't like the clip, I would rather listen to that performance than a lot of the music-mill songs coming out these days with no energy, no soul, and nothing other than a formula for radio play and record sales.
To each his own, I guess.

The two clips - in my opinion - give fair representation of the music culture of today. Most modern, cutting edge popular music sounds like doo-doo to me.

Judging by the head-bobbing, I was impressed that the audience seemed to have a better rhythm sense than the band.
That reminded me of a few shows I went to in college. I probably would have had fun there 15 years ago but now, at the old age of 34, it made me want to get some Tylenol and go back to bed.
this is pretty interesting, I see shows and play with these types of bands often. It is a lot about the energy and the song structure is there. Now do you understand this type of music or no.
I'm 39 and I used to listen and play stuff like this 10 years ago. I can still listen to some of it but a lot of it has been overdone so much that it becomes soooo monotonous. There are bands I like similar to the band in the video but these bands have much better musicians in them. Check out Dillinger Escape Plan, Behold The Arctopus, or Dysrhythmia. These guys may be a little more listenable.
I'm 48 and I listen to a lot of this stuff. In no way Could I compare Autumn Burns Red to Punch. As With bands like Avenged seven fold or Mastadon, I "suffer" through the Cookie Monster Vocals while being Blown away by the amazing Musical talent. With the Punch Video in the OP, I couldn't really find any redeeming qualities musically. I guess I am guilty of "not getting it" with that particular example. I try to keep a very open mind and listen to as much variety as I can. I think Punch should keep on going and dreaming, evolving, maturing. "Ride the Wave" if you will. That I do Understand completely. In Fact I'm a bit envious of them

In an alternate universe where musical instruments come alive in order to save music, these are the first five people to be murdered.
Proof that a Fender bass works in any situation. I guess you have to be there for this style of expression. Vocalist mentioned new record coming out. Can't imagine that being listenable without the live interaction aspect.
