I need a few ideas for April fool's day.

Yes, truly tragic.

Not unlike the case where another elderly citizen was shunned and ostracised by society, to the extent that she had to live in a giant shoe.

The details escape me, but I seem to recall she was a single parent and had many offspring from several fathers. Social security gave her a meagre pittance on which to survive, but the best she could muster was a thin, watery 'stew'. She could not even afford anything to dunk in said stew, such as bread.

She must have been at her wits end, which would explain the ultimate charge of child neglect. The physical and emotional damage on her children must have been significant.

If only her house was a boot, rather than a shoe, then maybe she could have utilised the available bootstraps.

No one ever said it was a GIANT shoe. That was some illustrator's take, which ended up catching on. The author was clear that she lived in a SHOE, and never talked about the size.

Incidentally, apparently the number of children she had caused her some degree of consternation. You think she would have known about SOCKS.

I worked in a small casual office and my boss would occasionally do this thing of hiding under someone's desk and then grabbing their ankles to scare them when they sat down. I one upped him - with the help of a co-worker I got up in the ceiling and laid down on the grid (was much lighter back then). Screamed like a little kid when I grabbed his shoulder.:D

Fill the upper tank of your pal's toilet with fake blood so that when he flushes he thinks his bathroom is going Amityville Horror on him. Or, if you're really immature like me and delight at a good old fashioned poop joke, just pull the traditional upper decker. It's a classic for good reason.

I clicked one of the links from an above reply, and saw the "Sonic Nausea" device http://www.selfdefenseproducts.com/Sonic-Nausea-p-17448.html . Just for fun, I checked Youtube, and there was a three-min video of it . Turns out it quietly transmits an ungodly irritating 15k-ish squeal that can be sensed as much as it can be heard, if not moreso, like the older tube TVs emit when turning on.
I'd love to hide one of these in a local studio control room, just to watch the expressions and bewilderment as the engineer starts tracing (and replacing) lines and cables and connections or even lighting fixtures...

Ha! Man, you'd drive the guy crazy!

Have you ever heard of the Shut Up Gun? http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/06/04/the-shut-up-gun/

I bet you could do something like this with a delay pedal and a telephone. It's actually somehow happened to me on a cellphone a few times when I called businesses with land lines. I don't know what caused my voice to be repeated back at me with a delay, but I bet the phenomenon inspired this invention.

Tell your kids you're going to make them pancakes for breakfast. After you put the batter in the pan wind a piece of string in a spiral pattern into the raw batter then flip it over and cook it in. Watch the fun when they try to cut their pancakes and be ready to shout April Fool! Gets them every time. :D Oh, and have some good pancakes ready to go.

My 21yr old cousin got fraped with the FB post "I just found out I'm going to be a father".
(Insert grandfather if you have teens or older, to really stir up the relatives).

Short-sheeting the kids' beds would be awesome too!!

Pranking the kids or colleagues lunch boxes would be fun too. Plastic spider, toothpaste on sandwiches, etc.

Fish head underneath hubcaps can go on for weeks.

An egg inside someone's work boots is pretty awful but very effective.

PS. I love the Mr Fox idea.
