I plan on selling my 'Ray 5 as early as this winter, and possibly replacing it with...
...another 'Ray 5.

Open bass case, turn on camera, take a photo, upload to TB or photo host site on web, post a pic on this thread?
Lots of opinions offered here, payback = photo for all to see!
stingray + flatwounds = low end thump and midrange punch, IMO
+1000!
I just got back from my rock gig tonight - playing a Stingray 4 with LaBella 1954 flats. What an amazing combination!
I play Fender Jazz bass's for the most part......I recently bought a spector rebop 4 string czech rep model. I hate it! The thing has zero low end compared to the fender and I just cant play it. I need an upgrade.....you think the MM can give me the same low end thump with some more punchier mids? My old bass teacher is moving and offered me a MM Stingray 5 for $700. As far as I can gather it is a killer deal. He gigged with it for about a year in the late 90's and its been in his closet ever since.Let me know this deal will be gone by Saturday!![]()
We still need pics
@ Ed Friedland. The flats on your review of the classics sound great, how are they compared to the LaBella strings you use?
My Stingray5 is my baby. I've been rocking it for thirteen or fourteen years now. It cured my bass GAS. If my house were on fire, and my family were safely outside, it would be the ONLY thing I would run back in for. I love it I love it I love it!
For $700 there should be no question. I defy anyone to pick up a bass as good as a stingray for $700. If you buy it and it's just not for you, you could probably sell it for $1000 without too much difficulty (assuming it's in good condition, of course).
My $.02
A Spector has less low end than a Fender Jazz?
Either I've never played a good Fender, or your need to check your rig.
To reiterate, the amazing combination consists of:
Singray 4 + LaBella 1954 flats + edfriedlands hands and brain.
Oh yeah Whats the difference between the 1 and 2 pickup setup?
