.....[falls of chair laughing]....

Dude, I'm serious! You shoulda seen the face on Anthony Jackson when I was all "STFU, n00b." He started cryin' and stuff. I mean, I didn't mean it like that, but between the Warwick and the 6 strings and my totally amazing skills at bass, cooking, and the fine art of Macaroni bridge building... well, it was just too much for the old guy. I don't like making grown men cry, unless it's in that "Man, you're the SRV of bass!" sort of way. Now, that's never happened, but that's because they're so busy crying, they can't say anything. They get all choked up, like Flea did. Man, you'd think for a guy playing long as he has, he wouldn't ask me to show him how I did those triplet-and-a-half I do. Real shame when people just don't know their instrument, y'know?

I did make sure to mention I play a Warwick right? It's one of the real ones, before the Gibson buyout. They were good back then.

I'm Brendan, and I'm still better than you.

WOW! sarge baker. You are WAY! too serious about this board. Let's calm down alright?
Please tell why should I learn a style that I don't enjoy playing?

I do agree that there are better bassists than les claypool, too bad Jaco isn't one of them. I know this is all opinion. I don't want to turn this thread into an argument over who's better, but I think that Jaco was a one trick pony. He only new one thechnique which to me made his music very boring. I also think that his music was very random. However in my jaco bashing defense, I only heard 2 songs from jaco (first impressions are everything.) that didnt bloat my goat. maybe you can suggest some really good songs from him for me? maybe you guys can convert me into a Jaco fan. I'm a very open minded person.

Wait, you've only HEARD two songs of Jaco, or you've only heard two songs of Jaco you didn't like?

Anyway, a few years ago, a thread like this would've really gotten me going (I'm a vet of the Kevin Walker Flambe Wars on the now-defunct Lakland forum). Kevin Walker's ego would've eaten this kid's ego alive, id and all. Now I just shake my head and say, "Knucklehead."

Dude, he is not a "knucklehead", he quite possibly could be the best bassist ever.

Show some respect.

This guy sounds like a forum punk. You know the type, they go from board to board just trying to get a rise out of people. He's actually probably 13-14yo and has never touched a bass.

BTW, dude, if you actually do play, grow up. Its not your age, its your attitude that needs improving.

Also, Brendan man, your killing me!Link Removed

I can't believe I am bothering to seriously address this, but hey.....I am at work, so I am getting paid to. I'll forget half the thoughts I had, but oh well.

1. Have you heard EVERY bass player in your city? Were they going all out playing their best GC chops they have in their pocket? Can YOU play EVERYTHING these other bassists can play? Afterall, you qualified yourself as "best" since "no one else can play what you do". In my band, I play what the band needs, I hear "your band is awesome" 10 times as much as I get a prop for my bass playing, because it isn't about one man trying to be a star. If you saw my band play, you would probably say I suck, since you know zero about team playing, or even an idea of what playing in the pocket is. Truth be told, challenge me, and I will probably tear you up. I was 17, and learned plenty of wank crap myself. Don't judge someone by the flash or amount of spotlight they get, learn the rules of music before you become a judge on it.

2. Why should you learn a style that doesn't interest you? Do you honestly think there is nothing to learn on other styles? The statement jaco is random just goes to show what little you know about music composition, and theory. Again, learn the rules before you declare yourself judge.

3. You are probably the same kids that every decent player wants to slap the snot out of trying to be a superstar in guitar center, the attitude proves even worse. The best slapper I have ever heard locally, could not even play enter sandman.

4. The more you speak here, the more ignorant you appear.....stop while you are ahead.
