I Present the IdiotBox Effects's Blower Box

I got a new bass this week (AmStd P), and was trying it with various pedals & setups - found that I really like the sound of just the bass into the BB into the pre-amp of my GK MB500 (I have been bypassing the pre with a VT bass). Had it at pretty low gain overall, below noon, and I like the mild grind of it, and the fact there's still a lot of clarity.

It's really making me consider a PT Nano of just Tuner > BB (low gain) > BB (high gain), so it's good to know they play well together.

Still blown away by this pedal every time I play with it, it's the distortion I have in my head. Really raised the bar for dirt sounds, IMO

Try lower distortion settings? My mids are good in the mix, but my distortion knob is only at 9:00.

That's a pedal I'd very much like to try! Along with the SS/BS Mini, Fuzzrocious Dark Driving, Catalinbread SFT...the list just keeps growing...

Willing to bet the Mini will stay a long while, if you get a chance to try it.

This could be why I had some trouble cutting in the mix or what I thought was an output issue. Since I got the john K's boost in there though, I been very good with it. Ba-boom!

With judicious use of the bass/treble knobs, you can keep your mids but add a bit more sizzle and thump. Really great pedal, but I use a pretty mid-forward bass and have a bunch of space in a three-piece band to play around in.

Side jacks though, so they are not really smaller

Also the illuminated 'eyes' are gone

Had me excited there for a second! But I'm pleased with my re-housed Blower Box in a tiny enclosure with all top jacks

If it had top jacks I would buy it right now! That would of course mean I could fit another pedal on my board. Being that it's side jacks it won't make enough of a difference.

In all honesty, I am a Top Jack proponent, but I have softened up my stance on side jacks over time. I have a few side jack pedals so, adding new ones next to them does not take up more space. It's all about planning in the end. If you are ok with not arranging pedals in their chained order, you can always make it work.

My guess is that the smaller enclosure is cheaper (cheaper to buy, cheaper to etch/finish). at 129$ (!!!!!!!!!!!) this is still one of the best deals out there. If I had to vote for a pedal of the year, this would be one of the top 2-3 for sure.

Somebody please post pics of the inside if you have one of the new smaller versions. I'd be curious how hard it would be to re-house it into a top jack enclosure now. The old one was fairly simple with the most hairy thing being having to desolder one pot from the board. Other than that it's just extending a few wires.

I know Matt is very aware of this thread. Obviously he must if the new ones are smaller and have more output. Maybe batch 3 will have top jacks. I won't be able to resist then!

Then I would have room for another OD! My dream situation would be top jacks on the BB and top jacks on the sfx beta and they would both fit beautifully where my Rat King is. It's fun to dream!
