I Present the IdiotBox Effects's Blower Box

Thought you just picked it up???
True, true.
But the pedals inherent "mid scoopy-ness" wasn't gonna work for me.
I even recently started blending my clean tone with dirt via a Boss LS-2.
It just wasn't a tone I could use.
As an instrumental band with two drummers and super loud keyboards, I have a lot of space to fill.
It seemed to scoop the frequencies that are most important to me.
I went out to my practice space on three different occasions, on three different days, with fresh ears.
I couldn't get behind it.
The thing I'm saddest about is the fact that it was a JohnK_10 special mod.
:banghead:

But, on a more positive note:
1) It went to someone cool.
2) Getting my blend situation working made me fall in love with my VMT again.
3) I got a DOD 250 today
4) I have an HPF ver. 3 coming
5) My friend who has great tone told me he was jealous of my tone and blend set-up
and
6) Gonna finally replace my VT Bass with a Rusty Box, as soon as I can afford a new one, or someone lets one go in the classifieds.

My GAS is coming to an end!!!

Man you're set up like a mofo!! How do you like the 250?!? I'm falling in love with mine more and more every time I use it! And running it through the rusty box, into the B7K, through the submarine and into my Electric...... So heavenly. It's so warm yet so grindy. Yumminess to the max.

I got it today but haven't got to try it yet, I'll probably drive out to the practice space tomorrow after work.
It's just such a pain in the a** to get out there right now because they're repairing a bridge on the direct route and the detour is an extra 10 minutes (oh my god how inconvenient #firstworldproblems).

Hate the BB didn't work for you, but glad everything is comin' together.

Haha! Cool man I can't wait!

Gonna try an trade my RK for something fun now.

Good luck. I hope you have better luck than I have trying to unload Fuzzrocious pedals. I think its robbery the amount of money they fetch on the used market compared to what any of us bought them at new. That sort of goes without saying with most any pedal thats not "hot" or in demand. But it seems like for Fuzzrocious stuff, the resale value just plain stinks.

That's why I am keeping my Grey Stache :)

Seriously though, I have to admit that, even though you have to almost give them away, by the time the price is lowered enough, you can actually sell them pretty quick. There are some other pedals out there that are priced pretty low yet spend months and months in the classifieds. For me, though, since I had to include cross-border shipping, it really was very close to giving them away. I am glad I sold a couple of pedals to Canadian buyers, that helped a bit.

Yeah, no offense but it must stink to have to ship pedals to the US when a lot of us TB'rs seem to be on this side of the border. But that can go both ways. There has been a couple deals I reluctantly turned down due to shipping costs. Most the time Ill work out a cheaper price than asked if they pay shipping. But if they arent willing to work with me, Im not going to be willing to make the sale. It really is just business. I dont feel like paying a shipping cost that has at times been half my asking price. Its just not a very smart investment to me. But usually, we can work something out. I know how it is to get a pedal from someone here on TB and get that little high of anticipation.

Yeah, I always work with the US sellers on shipping when I want something, I cannot expect a US seller to lose a bunch of money just to sell to me. The problem is that there are a lot of US sellers so as a Canadian seller, you have to work on price more than you would in the US.

The one thing I don't like is US sellers that have a "shipped conus" price but then try to charge me the full price of shipping to Canada. If their price includes 10$ for shipping to the US, you should credit that toward the price of shipping for an international buyer. I have always paid the difference in shipping when buying or at least factored it in my offer.

It will always be better than the local classifieds (craigslist, kijiji) here. So many idiots asking for close to MSRP up here when they paid retail. They all think that they are the only ones that got a good price and that by saving you the sales taxes (like 15%), they can ask for more than retail. That's why I am happy Fender is phasing out MSRP. Tired of going to stores here BSing unsuspecting clients about how they are getting a great deal because the original price posted was MSRP.

/Rant :)

The price difference is not really the issue though. Here's why:

To ship a package to USA:
Seller pays with paypal.
Click the 'print label' button.
Stick in mailbox.
Enjoy rest of day.

To ship a package outside of the USA:
Seller pays with paypal.
Take time off of work to travel to post office.
Stand in line for 15 minutes.
Obtain customs forms.
Spend 5 minutes filling out customs forms.
Stand in line for 15 minutes.
Correct the mistakes pointed out by postal clerk.
Wait 5 minutes while postal clerk enters information.
Beat postal clerk over the head.
Do jail time.
Lose job, family.
Sell gear to survive, probably to someone in Canada.
Start over at step 1.

:)

Yeah I've been seeing the price they sell for. Makes me cringe a bit. That's why I am hoping I can trade it for something(thinking a swollen pickle would be nice).

Good news is I have no problem hanging on to it for a while. I have a few other outlets than here in TB classifieds to try and get a decent resale price. Outside of TB most people look at that pedal and think it's some mysterious magical tone machine. I have seen them sell for much better prices on Reverb.com. Ultimately If I can trade it for something I want I won't be as bummed if it's not necessarily the fairest trade.

I am guilty of it too. I may have low balled ya a little on the BDPG. :)

What should be said is "way to finally jump on the bandwagon!" "What took you so long!" "I knew you couldn't resist!"

Its all good man, I never take offense if a friend comes in at a really low price, I expect it. If it is a total stranger so to speak that comes in at an insulting offer, that is when I get in "ah he** nah mode" haha. In all honestly on my end, I got a heck of a deal on the BDPG from someone on here as it is and I shouldve just kept my mouth shut on possibly wanting to sell it. Its one of those pedals that I got from a really good dude here on TB, its not being made anymore and on top of it, it is one of those pedals that I got rid of a long time ago and regretted it over time. I dont want that to happen again. Its not as easy as it used to be to get them. Plus, depending on my setup, I may still use it at some point. There is just something about that BDPG that is really cool.

Yeah, that sounds bad. On our side of the border, the process is actually very simple when shipping with Canada Post. UPS and Fedex have ridiculous customs forms as well, but Canada Post's customs form is a tiny label you fill out in 1 minute. You can even do it online now.

Our post offices are also a more streamlined experience, in urban areas at least. Up here, most of the standalone post offices have disappeared. All that is left are the small post office concessions in pharmacies. There are quite a few of them so it's always fast and the staff is pharmacy staff that is nice and efficient, usually.

I have to say, having attended a US publishing industry conference where some lobbyists came to talk about the industry's efforts to "reform" the US post office, I am not surprised that what you described is the current state of what you have to go through to mail stuff.
