I Present the IdiotBox Effects's Blower Box

Or maybe the PH1000 or 610. Maybe even the 412. Man, they really have most configs than I thought. Way cool. In fact, I think I'm going to go Mesa when I get a cab. I've heard them in action before and they really do wrap you up. They're all enveloping.
In hindsight, I would've gone with two 410's or a 410/115 setup. Just for easier transportation. Or maybe even 212/115 setup. I've actually got my cab in the classifieds for trade for one of these setups. And they'd have to be for Mesa of course.

I'm recording next weekend, and I'm set as a BB into VT Bass as a preamp as my setup. Love how they work together.

I have a Precision with an SB-2, a Barefaced cab, and the VT - it's probably because of my setup, but I haven't really noticed any mid scoop.
Ooh, "Precision -> Blower -> VT Bass (DI for the nicer font) -> [some transparent amp] -> Barefaced" is exactly my dream setup these days. Unfortunately I just have the Precision and the Blower Box so farl

i'm still really diggin' mine. so much so that I built another one, but with top jacks. (BTW, my BB clones are NOT for sale, please support the ORIGINAL manufacturer-they're a bargain and he's a great guy!).

Jeebus. Played the BB through my Buster and tweeter less Barefaced and it about left me with a Colombian necktie; razor city. The bass' tone knob tamed it, but wide open was brutal upper mids and highs. Wish I had a band setting to test the mix.

One thing I've noticed about my BB....When I first got it, I was running a BDDI at the end of my chain (always on), and I LOVED how it (BB) sounded, it was bar none the tone I had in my head for an angry dirt pedal.

I have since sold the BDDI and replaced it with the new MXR Bass Preamp (just HAD to try it)...I will say the MXR is truly a wonderful clean preamp, but I now am having a difficult time getting my BB to sound like it use to...I'm actually considering selling the MXR and getting another BDDI, I miss it THAT much with the BB.

Once I get "the sound", I stop. GAS rarely helps after that!

I pulled my BDDI off the board a little while ago. Was fighting me too much. It seemed to compress the BB a little to me.
Have it on the end of the chain these days.
TE SMX compressor>AMT Wah>JohnK Gamma Drive>BDPG>AE UH Delay>AE Hail Satan>BB>HPFv3>TC mini tuner>Amp

Aside from the Hail Satan Deluxe that's on the way I don't think the BB will be going anywhere.

While I do like the sound of my Blower Box through the BDDI into a DAW, I find that I like it even better with a bit of a parametric (Q ~= 1) EQ boost centered at 900 Hz for a very aggressive growl. I guess I could place an E.W.S. Bass Mid Control after the BDDI to accomplish this tone live, but that kinda defeats the "DI" part of the BDDI, so I'm thinking it's time to try another preamp. Maybe the VT Bass DI, as I've heard that it can do nearly the same tone as a BDDI.

Wow, there sure are a lot of these in the classifieds these days. I remember at first there was so much talk of "Blower Box is kicking Rat Kings off of boards left and right". It appears these are now flying off of boards. Interesting how needs and interests change so quickly.
I still like mine. However, I have found myself mainly usin' it to layer distortions/overdrives. Although it sounds good by itself, I never use it that way.

I still dig mine as well. I still only use it for certain songs/parts/sounds though. I tell you one thing, I use it heck of a lot more than I ever did my rat king ;)

I still see it on a lot of boards. Still on mine. People who liked it kept it, people who disliked it right away flipped them. There at least one that has been passed around quite a few times.

Of course, this thread died when we were told we had to enjoy the BB in silence or risk the thread devolving into useless arguments. Now, this thread is as dead as the Fuzzrociousistan one.

Mine won't go anywhere. Mainly use it for those full-on destruction moments, though. It's perfect for "blowing" stuff away.

It's always the way when a new pedal makes a splash... B3K was like that as well. B3K was the talk of the town, and then all of a sudden there were lots of them in the classifieds... Blower Box is an amazing pedal, especially for the price. I don't use my BB all the time, but I can afford to keep it around for when I do.
