controlled explosion by the boston PD, they either found something or were suspicious of something
BBC is saying 3 explosions, two from in or near a hotel. A third was a controlled explosion of a suspicious package or something by the Boston PD (as per what JFOC said).
This is crazy. Prayers to the families of the dead and injured. I just played 2 shows at Ned's in Faneuil Hall this weekend. Easily my favorite city to play/travel to and I'm sickened by this tragedy. Stay strong Boston!

But I know that Boston is one of the most Irish places in the US. I also know that the IRA uses improvised explosives packed with ball bearings or sometimes nails. I can't help but wonder.
I really hope everyone is OK as possible. There have been deaths and dismemberment reported. I hope there are no more and that our first responders are successful in their efforts. They deserve all the appreciation they get and then some.

Seriously doubt it's the IRA, some of the biggest support of the IRA came from Irish-descent Americans, so it would be akin to shooting themselves in the foot.
The IRA has been fairly quiet for years and if anything, they would have attacked the London Marathon if they were picking up again.
You're probably right and in fact I don't think it was them either. I just couldn't get the coincidence out of my head.
Claiming IRA involvement just because explosions were involved is like saying the FDNY puts out all fires because they use hoses. Think for a second.
Man, how can someone have a heart cold enough to do something like this? People's hearts are getting colder and colder it seems.
