Can we do ourselves a favor and leave the speculation out of this thread? Last thing any of us want is this tragedy, let's not add fuel to the fire that could incite anger amongst the TB populace.

Suffice it to say this was a depraved and cowardly act.

I am so sorry and pray for those who lost loved ones, or to those who are seriously hurt.

On the press conference held, I fear that there is not a 4th explosion, and I trust those accountable will be brought to justice swiftly and with not a shred of leniency.

Now they're unsure if the JFK explosion was an unrelated mechanical fire or not.

Now I just read that there's up to 12 people killed and 50+ injured. I guess they have a suspect in a Boston hospital who's a 20 year old Saudi Arabian male. He has severe burns on his body.

I've heard those reports from the New York Post for about half an hour, but the Boston PD is strongly denying both those things. Everyone else is reporting 2 deaths, not 12.

NBC just tweeted that an injured "possible suspect" is being guarded at a hospital.

This makes me sick. I used to work on Boylston St and know the area well. I have been a spectator at the Marathon in the past. Some Newtown/Sandy Hook survivors and their families were invited to the race today; I really hope they all made it out of there in time, I cannot imagine the trauma.

PLEASE people be very careful posting rumors, speculation, and questionable news stories. As horrible as this is let's stick to the facts until we know more. Boston PD press conference just confirmed the NY Post stories are FALSE.

I work security 2 blocks from there I didn't work today because of the marathon. I am glad I was home. It's going to interesting getting to work tomorrow.

Two doctors from the hospital where I work ran the marathon today. I'm not close enough to them that they would call me to say they are alright, but I sure hope they are.

I can't imagine the emotional scars this will leave behind those near the explosions. I get nervous just hearing them on TV.

I really hope everyone is OK as possible. There have been deaths and dismemberment reported. I hope there are no more and that our first responders are successful in their efforts. They deserve all the appreciation they get and then some.

I know (and hopefully most of us here) that you didn't mean anything by it; it's just that thinking out loud can turn into something much bigger than you expected it to on teh interwebz. Spoken from experience

And I second your sentiments and pray there is no further tragedy, either from this, or in the forseable future, as naive that may sound.
