I respect Jauqo III-X completely but...

The whole thing sounds together to me.
Cool vid. I don't know jack about fusion due to lack of interest. And I never heard Jauqo before.
Maybe because I'm used to hearing 2 lead guitars it made sense to me? If you're confused by this, try listening to some King Crimson with the Fripp/Belew lineup.
I don't feel it.
This kind of thing at this level is all I have heard but would feel it unfair to base an opinion on it, having heard just this kind of thing as I think it is just too limited an insight into what he must be doing.

Jauqo can groove. I've witnessed it. This is just him having fun making noise. I'm sure there's some fancy music theory physics working behind all the cacophony, but I'm too dumb to hear it. I determine all music by one simple litmus test. Are the chicks shaking their tatas? If they're not shaking their tatas, then something's wrong. Of course this is just my opinion and as you all know, I have a lot of those.
I do not know anything about this bassist.

i thought it sounded cool.. the parts seemed to fit together in an interesting but coherent way... it was fun!
I think experimental guys like Jauqo deserve our support. I sent a copy of Low C# Theory to my Music Department to generate some interest in Jauqo doing a seminar.

Oh, if the OP is desperate for something I didnt prefer, its the 8 string/10 string bass. Prefer the single strings, as the notes are more articulate to me. But he done jammed on it good.
+1 on liking Jaquo much better on a 4 & 5. This sound wasn't particularly pleasing to my ear, but I can really relate to it-- I used to use a multi-stringed fretless Primus style in a metal band, and this reminded me of that work. Jaquo's chops are undeniable, I think what I didn't like was the sound of that particular bass. I think it's great that Jaquo posts possibly controversial stuff like this on Youtube to reveal his experimental side; it's an admirable quality to not always fall into tradition.
Im not really a fan of the piece TS posted... at all. but i did some digging and found one i really kind of did like. Quite a bit, actually.

I don't know about you guys, but a fifteen string bass isn't really a bass. Jauqo is a fantastic bass player and a fantastic 15 string bass player - aka he is a master of two completely different instruments. You'll notice he plays completely different styles when he plays the two.
