Why not offer to split the difference with the guy, and offer to sell it for $25 less than you're asking? IMO, better to sell it right away locally for a little less than asking than to wait for weeks or months, OR have to sell it online and put up with shipping, PayPal and/or eBay fees. Of course, best of all is to buy/sell it here on TB, despite the PayPal fees and shipping costs/hassle.

I don't HAVE to sell it. It's my 610 so shipping is pretty much out of the question. I have one young man that wrote & called even came and checked it out. He is working on putting the money together. I would just as well sell it to him for my price or if I give anyone a discount it would be him. The other guy tried beating me down from the beginning. I have a # in the listing.

I was just watching that MTV Show "teen moms" and one of the dip$hit teen mothers tried to sell her car on CL. Someone from out of the country said they would take it and offer her $3000 more than the $5000 asking price to ship it. SOMEHOW, it didnt go into that detail, but this dummy goes to Western Union and wires $3k to this person out of the country. How the hell did he do that? I thought she was selling the car and he was supposed to send the money to her. Needless to say, it was a scam and she was out that money. Im sorry to see anyone be scammed like that but, L-freaking-O-L!!!!

I encountered a new craigslist scam the other day. I sent a guy(whatever animal or primate) an email about a SVT 2 pro that was listed for $750.00. I let him know that I was interested, and wanted to pick it up locally (Atlanta,GA). He sends me a reply that he lived in Las Vegas, and if I would send the money to him through ebay via paypal he would ship me the amp Next day air at no additional charge. I found all that kind of strange so I passed.
$750.00 for an SVT 2, is a good deal. However the Next day shipping charges would be around 250, and I cant see that happening in a million years.

Fishy? Possibly a scam?

I've done something similar - get 'em interested, string them along for a while, and then give them a call-back number ... to the FBI unit that handles Nigerian scams. I never hear back.

One time I asked them to fax me a picture of their Passport, and they actually did..

And the producers let her go through with it? They should be sued for helping accommodate a fraud.

BTW, someone posted earlier that they got a vague e-mail and responded. NEVER reply to an inquiry that isn't very specific to your offer ("Is your item still available? If so, I will buy it."). There are spam farmers who send such anonymous, vague inquiries, and if you respond, your e-mail addy will be in the hands of every spammer on the interwebs within a day or two. I'm very specific every time I post: Include your phone number, or I will not respond to your inquiry. Period.

Here we have 'Kijiji', very similar to CL, with the same idiocy perpetrated by a few.

I was trying to sell off some un-needed non-music related stuff, one item for $20.
Now if you're not interested, or $20 is too much for you, fine, just don't bother me with stupid offers.
The dumbest was this:
"$5 cash right now"
That's all that was in the email, nothing more.
Then had another moron give me grief because he thought $20 was too much, and that I should just offer to give it away.

I guess it's a hobby for some people. Or are they really that stunned?

When I list on craigslist, I ask that if you are serious, send your phone number with questions, and then state I don't return e-mails, but will call. Then I google the phone number and e-mail address to see who they are. All other e-mails without a number are considered as spam and just deleted if I can find no legitimate information. I state that I'm firm on the price. I will always consider a serious offer though if I have had it for sale a while.
Last saturday I listed five items, and an hour later got the same, "is it still for sale" message for each item. In the photo items for sale, I will get a half dozen spam messages for one item.

They did let her go through with it but to be honest, it was her property and they are just there to document her life. I am not sure the legalities of it but they probably are to stay out of anything that isn't blatantly illegal (like drunk driving, or pulling out a gun and saying your going to shoot someone). What I want to know is how if the person said they would send $3k extra to ship the car, how she ended up at Western Union sending $3k to them out of the country???

Haggling is part of buying and selling used. Some people just enjoy the haggling. Anything I list on CL gets listed $25 higher than what I want. They offer 50 lower, I say no but I will drop 25. I get my price and they got a deal. everyones happy.
