I would like some opinions on my tone. Clips inside.

Too trebly in my opinion, but that could be what your after.
I use heavy gauge flats on my H1 and there is no lack of sustain. Could be the Badass II has something to do with that.
I couldn't be happier with the tone I get theses days - phat & biting.

I can see why people would like the tone, but i'm not the biggest fan of distortion effects on a bass, don't really use effects at all although I do have a Korg AX3B effects Processor which is good enough for somebody like me ha.
It really depends what kind of band you are in. I had look at a few other videos of yours and I think the tone and effect suits the style you play in some of your clips. Quite "Guitar-esque" riffs.

Lol oh right,well then somebody has a similar tone and playng style to you and the same bass ;-) lol.

Anyway so what is the song like that you will be using this tone in? If you record it stick a clip up, would be good to hear this tone in action in a real song.
Mebbe just try some thicker strings, overall though it could just sound a bit naff cos of your recording equipment. Do you have a pre for recording stuff on your computer? I've recorded without before and stuff sound REALLY weak.
Actually I use this tone for everything. The song is a kind of heavy metal, with double bass drum and stuff. It was not written by me, so I won't post because I can get problems about copyright...but this is my tone for everything I play.
Yes I do. I use a Behringer mixer as a pre amplifier.
Had another listen and it's a bit fuller, only thing I'd recommend would be more mid to low bass to give it some depth, try a little more 80hz (as far as I'm aware a bit of a studio convention) and maybe some a little more of some lower frequencies then that too.
For all we know you could be shaking the windows with that tone when it's coming through your amp, but recording something to sound like it sounds coming through an amp as you perceive it is close to impossible it would seem, so fiddling around is usually necessary. What mic did you use on your 15 by the way?

I think that all the posts sort of show why, IMHO, this sort of thread is pretty worthless.

I like it. I'm not a huge fan of bass overdrive but I could see that tone doing well in some heavier styles.
Hey, that clip is terrific!! Good example of distortion done tastefully, with some nice licks through in.
It was a regular all round microphone, a behringer something. My equipment is cheap. I use the microphone to get the highs and the line out to get the lows. If i record only with the line out it sounds a bit lifeless.

I find it fairly difficult to judge tone in the context of the mix by hearing it solo.
For me, it it sounds thin and clanky solo it usually works better once everything else gets piled on top of it then a tone that sounds great solo.
If the tone in the second clip is the same as the first, I'd go for a little brighter even.

I think you need a new pickguard.
Other than that, it's the tone you want then there's no issue. If it's not, find what you are looking for.
