Ibanez Affirma Series (AFR-104)

Despite the new Affirma flamed maple AFR4FMP-NTF, AFR5FMP-NTF and walnut AFR4WAP-NTF, AFR5WAP-NTF are going to be made in Indonesia (please put in mind, those Affirma basses shown at Winter NAMM 2018 were prototypes. Ibanez will only put them into productions if there are enough purchasing requests from their world wide dealers), these will carry the Ibanez Premium branding, thus they would not be on the commonly affordable side for most. Might gonna be reasonably priced for some, but usually not for me...

Is there an official statement by Ibanez?

Id love to hear from them! I think they would / could write History to bring Affirma Basses - at an affordable level - back!!!

I've given the info about Ibanez is going to come out with new AFR basses few months before NAMM 2018 started in the following thread:

Do want, 4-string in walnut. Didn't get one from gen 1, and scarcity on used market drove prices up crazy. I know, S&D free market works that way...sorry to potential gen 1 sellers.

Hopefully street price on these won't be nuts.

manufacturer suggested price seems going to be $1,499 for the 4 string models and $1,599 for the 5ers.

They didn't keep the Dtuning bridge. Lovely instruments though.

Looks like the 5-string spacing will be 19 mm, and the width at the nut will be 48 mm. I was hoping for something more like 18 and 45.

That was a cool feature on the first gen. Always thought it would be neat to have all four have that flip lever, and instantly change it to D-G-C-F, which I keep one of my basses tuned to permanently now.

On the headstock as well as the bridge, IIRC...way more bass than I can handle, exploit, or even remotely sound musical, I'd guess.

They are made in the Premium factory in Indonesia with the other Premium basses.
