I'm thinking elixirs are what's on it but I'm not sure I was thinking of getting dr's of some sort never heard of naked strings I'll take a look thanks guys

Sadly, my crappy camera doesn't do it justice. The color is much, much darker in person and the grain jumps out quite a bit. Oh well.

Quick question for the guys here. I tried a BTB 6 string recently and I liked it. The thing that surprised me was that the bass was fairly easy to play. With a 35" scale and fairly wide spacing, I was expecting to be very hard for me to play. It certainly didn't feel that big and my right hand was comfortable throughout. Now I have been playing basses with a very narrow spacing ~ 17mm for some time and I always imagined it would be hard for me to play basses with wider spacing. Can anyone tell me what the exact spacing at the bridge is? I might actually be more comfortable on wider spacing than I thought I would be.
i've noticed its changed over the years.
my BTB1006 (2004) is definitely 19mm/3/4". my BTB406 (2000) is 18 mm. both are comfy and easy to play.

I am lookingto buy an Ibanez BTB from eBay. It is a 4 string and it looks like a BTB but I am not really sure (the marking on the headstock is not visible.
If there is anyone who can help me, I would appreciate it.

very nice bass, imho. i have a BTB405 and 406 (5 and 6 string versions of the same series). the 405 was my first and got me hooked.
i love the string spacing, neck and the EQ on that series. EQ is very flexible.

FYI - I won the auction at $208.00 plus $20.00 shipping. I tried looking up pricing on a new BTB400QM but I could not find one (went to Ibanez site and it is not there). The closest I got was for another used one in a red quilt for $499.00.
i paid $599 for my BTB405 new @ GC way back when... a BTB406 was $649 i believe, so i think the BTB400 would have been ~$549 if i had to guess.

I think I did pretty good as well, thanks. And thank you for giving me a nudge in what I am sure is the right direction (I had an Ibanez SR300 but the pick ups were designed in such a way that made uncomfortable to play). I like the Ibanez sound and I am glad I got this one. I was originally going to buy a new Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass HB but I guess I can get that later if I am still pre-disposed.
when you get it in your hands, you can run it thru an ibanez serial number cruncher (google for it or check one of the BTB thread pages) to get the year it was made and where as well.
The serial number is W540860. Of course, I am not familiar with an Ibanez serial number cruncher but I am going to try it on google. Thanks, I'll let you know what, if anything, I find.
