I promised pics of my BTB1000E a long time ago and I think Ive got it figured out , so we shall give it a try .1999 by the way, Love this bass.

That's a nice BTB you have there.

Last week I played a 676. Surprisingly the neck didn't feel as wide as it looked, but it has prevented me gassing for a 6 string for now, it just didn't feel right and I probably wouldn't find much use for the 6th string on a fretted , but would still like to try a fretless 6er, so my money is safe. (for now)

My 2004 made in Korea Ibanez BTB400QM HS just arrived today. Cleaned her up, changed the strings and took her for a spin and she is great. She's got a pretty little growl right out the gate (as opposed to my booming low and mellow t-bird goth and the ever-present squier j-bass. Have a look and let me know what you think. Is this where I get my number?

Here are a couple more pics.

Crap, my 'new' 1206 has a serious problem: at mid-volume or higher, it produces an oscillating squeal. Rolling the treble knob changes the pitch of the squeal.

Yes, I installed new batteries. Didn't change the problem.

I'm guessing the preamp has a problem, or one of the pups is screwed. Either way it takes some of the luster off what I thought was a great deal.

Try shifting the balance fully to each pickup to see if it is a pickup problem. If not then it is probably the preamp.
