10 pics of the front and 0 of the back?
The back is boring, just mahogany that's all, sorry. I wish they would have done the flamed maple on the back too, it would have given it so much more character.

have you played any of the new sr's 505 and up with the bart's in them to compare? you can't really compare any new Ibanez to the crap of the 90's ,I had a bunch of Ibanez in the 90's and can't think of one that had an even half way decent sound,
I was thinking of grabbing the sr5005e until this peeked my interest, I do like the newer Sr's with the bart's but if this sounds even better It may save me a 1000 bucks.. lol

I the bartolini MK-1's sound very weak in comparison and the real barts are too dark for me. They're darker toned and with less versatile in your mid and high range imo, great for warm tone but not quite as strong in the mids and highs. The nordstrand pu's have a very well balanced output, meaning, all of your strings sound at the same intensity when you pluck them. I've played basses before where E and G are really loud but A and D fall short, this thing has no issues like that. Versatile tone out the wazoo and a high output, cut through the mix or allow you to be the thunder in the background. you can make your Nords sound like barts, but you can't make your barts sound like nords. I think that this is the best looking and sounding bass that they have ever produced plus it's very light and the price is totally worth it. I'd buy it again if i had to... and I might, I think the 4 string version is in my future

I've considered the 5005 also but I just think it is the ugliest SR to date and not to mention WAY OVERPRICED, I'd get any 4505, 4005, 1405 or 1205 before the 5005 because the electronics are damn near the same and the price points are noticeably more affordable. But can someone answer this: When did Ibanez start thinking they were a boutique company?

So the only difference between the SR1405E and the SR1205E is the different in wood type for the tops?
The SR1205E with the Ovankol instead of the figured maple is sexier, in my opinion. I don't know how the tone differs, though.

I have yet to play the premium line, but the prestige basses are amazing. In regards to the SR500xE series, they are as good as many basses even more expensive. JMO of course, but theyre great. If the premiums can come even close to them, they are going to be great instruments for there price.
Never played a prestige or premium bass. None of the shops near me carry high end Ibanez basses.... 
My local dealer finally got an SR1205 with Nordstrands. The bass is one of the best sounding instruments I have heard at any price. Since he is selling it for $1,099, I am really tempted, but when I a/b'ed it with my Yamaha TRB5II, the Yammy's 18mm spacing was far more comfortable for me. I could get used to the Ibby, but my current bass is no slouch!
Other than at least 17.5 spacing, Ibanez needs to incorporate a passive tone control. This bass sounds enormous passive, and a treble roll-off would make this bass even more versatile.

I've played a 5000 (I'd like to have played the 5005/6 instead) and don't get me wrong it sounds amazing a very smooth tone and the woods really add to the low and mid range but it just wasn't as punchy in the highs as I'd prefer. I slap to finger style and back frequently so I liked the balance of the nords and the maple top. I can make it dark like the 5000 with a little help from my amp but i can still get the bright punchy highs. IMO there is a small but noticeable tone difference and for $1000 less, I can't complain at all.
Ovangkol is supposed to have a darker tone than maple, but considering how thin the top wood is I don't think it will make a huge difference. plus it doesn't have a matching back (I was really disappointed.. seriously) like the 5000's do, which does change the tone more noticeably.
Thanks for the quick response, you just saved me a 1000 bucks lol.. I really like the 5005 but top looks like my grandmothers coffee table, and If I could fix one thing other than the string spacing on the sr it would be to clean up the mid-range a tad on the barts, nerver played a bass with nords but I think I will now.. Man if they made the 5 string neck a little wider they'd probably triple sales.. but I'm hooked.. after a bad experience with an mtd 535 the Sr changed my thoughts on more expensive is better..
I completely agree with you on the look of the 5000's I think they're ugly (sorry guys, don't hate me). actually, truth be told, I've been trying to like this years high end SR models but I think most of them look terrible compared to years past. The SR4000 and SR4500 series look like something you'd see on an SR300 and SR500 series basses and for $1500-$1900, it should look as good as the SR1200 or SR1400E IMO. You'll not be disappointed with a 1405 and i assume a 1205; the price, playability, tone... It's the total package.
