Idaho GTG Spring/Summer 2011

Idaho? Really? Yes! Here are the details:

When: March 26th from 2-5pm
Where: Gigs Music, 611 N. Orchard, Boise, ID 83706
Why: A couple of reasons. The first being to meet different bassists/musicians and hopefully try out some sweet gear. The second (this is the fun part ) is to have the social gtg held in conjunction with a concert. Details will be made available once the date and venue have been secured.

This should be an excellent opportunity to meet bassists from Southwest Idaho and surrounding areas (Eastern Oregon, Nevada, etc.) and see what should be an amazing concert by Mr. Manring and guests. For questions, details, or if you you would like to attend, please PM me. Thanks!!!

Question. Is it a standard thing to have food and beverage on hand at the GTG? I really hadn't thought about munchies. Thoughts, opinions and suggestions are all appreciated.

Well, since it is in a music store certainly no alcohol. Btw, Rick will be doing the sound for the show (I forgot to tell him about you, sorry).

It's a chance to meet people, check out gear you've never tried, do some jamming, etc... Heck, I don't know! This is my first.
You don't have to bring gear unless you want to.

I've been to around a dozen GTGs by now, 4 of which I put on. There is no standard, do whatever you want!

Mine were at a 300 seat bar with a huge stage and food and booze available on your nickel, so they were 21-and-over therefore. This was a great place to hear bass gear in close to a gigging context. Some of us went out for better food after the GTG at a local brewpub.

The last one out here was hosted by 4Mal at his house, with excellent homemade chili and other food that he made for us. We have a core GTG crew that are pretty tight, so this was really nice for us but might not work so well with strangers.

None of the ones I've been to charged admission. A few were potluck for food, which was cool too.

Gear? Crazy amounts at most of ours. At the first one I put on, we realized that one Fodera never even made it out of its case until nearly everyone had already left.

I'm just starting to work out if I can make yours, and how to do so most efficiently. The Manring concert is a nice bonus!

Thanks! I'm excited and stressed, but it should be fun. Just an fyi, ticket sales have started to pick up so if you haven't got yours yet, you may want to get them soon. It's a seated event so not as many tickets will be available.
