If I had to pare this down to 3 or 4 basses, I believe I'd go with the following (all five strings -- BEADG):
#1. Dingwall Afterburner II (I don't really think I'd want a bass that I'd be paranoid to gig with at Joe's Bar & Grill -- hence the AB II instead of the Prima Artist +);
#2. Skjold Custom (Maple neck with Wenge stringers, Wenge fingerboard, N. Ash body center piece with Walnut stringers and Curly Maple body wings, single PUP fairly close to the bridge)
#3. Sadowsky PJ (reverse P & VTC)
#4. My SR5 -- it's a heavy moo-foo, but I love its tone.

Okay here goes, decided to do what I would buy, not what I'd spend unlimited money on:
1. Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass
2. Fender Deluxe Active Precision Bass
3. Fender Tony Franklin P Bass
4. Rickenbacker 4003
5. Fender Japan Jaco Bass (but i'd slap a pickguard on)
6. Gibson Thunderbird
7. A decent upright, maybe get one made for me
8. Mo Clifton Electric Upright
9. An Alembic of some description, probably the Stanley Clarke
10. I've really run out of ideas, I think I could cope with just a fretted, a fretless and a double bass.

I am completely happy with my current top 5 basses (FINALLY!!!), but if I WAS FORCED to buy another 5, I guess I could figure out what to buy.

Fender MIM P (really old for MIM - likely early 80's)
Fender Geddy Jazz
Lakland 55-02
EBMM Bongo 5

What I would love to own on top of my current 5:

Gibson Les Paul 5 string Bass (the sunburst ones are amazing)
Lakland 55-94 (my 55-02 is amazing, I can't imagine what the USA made version plays like)
An older Rickenbacker 4001 or 4003
a Martin 4 string acoustic bass
A singlecut 5 string boutique-y bass (Foroda, Elrick or something like that.

Fodera Emperor II Elite 9 strings, then sell them all and get about 40 MTD's.

Or ten of those Ritter Royal $100,000.00 things and sell them, because then I could buy about 150 MTD's.

Or ten mint '61 Fender Jazzes, because then...
