If you could only have one pedal...

I know this is a terrifying prospect, but if you could only have one pedal in your rig, what would it be?

For a long time for me, it would have been the Aguilar Tone Hammer, but I recently got a Diamond compressor, and I don't think I could live without it now.

I'm expecting to see a lot of VT Bass and B7k votes, but we'll see what happens.

Several months ago I would have said my Markbass Compressore. That may still be the case when going direct. The new amps I have picked up recently have limiting and/or compression circuitry built into them, so I'm not sure now. Polytune Noir ?

Oof - that IS tough. Maybe my Zoom B3. I can get enough fuzz out of it that I could do without my B3K in a pinch.
I would have said my Eventide Pitchfactor, but I no longer use it as a detuner. I really need to spend some time dialing in and saving some harmonized sound settings that I like.

Answering today, I'd say the EQD Depths. It adds just a hint of grit, boosts the low end, with modulation of course. It can be subtle, verging on an always on tone, or get pretty far out.

I could probably be very happy with a VT Bass DI. It can do warmth, some OD, a little compression, etc.

Otherwise I'd probably take a good comp. Empress or better yet a Cali76 TXP.

Yup definitely my B7K, but a compressor is all most as important if not equally important. The B7K probably edges out compressors in general because I honestly could change out my FEA DE-CL with a Empress Comp or even a Aguilar Comp and still be very happy. I have yet to find anything like the B7K. ^^^ The Fairfield Barbershop is pretty close though!!!

I can easily see why a vote for a VT Deluxe or BDDI could make so much sense as you can get OD and some natural compression from them. But for me right now it would probably have to be a compressor (comp of choice recently has been a clone of the Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer by AnalogMan).

At this very moment? My IdiotBox Blower Box....I am absolutely in love with this pedal.

Now to be fair, I have a SansAmp BDDI too, but it is always on, never used for dirt, just a clean EQ & DI...I hardly even consider it a pedal at this point...so if I was to be forced to choose between those two, I guess it would be the BDDI.
