If You Could Only Have Two Basses...

I've had (and extensively researched) the Highway Ones. The cheapest I've ever found was a '10 Precision at $585 shipped.
I was fortunate to get it at that price, and I have yet to see one sell for less than that.
I loved that thing, but traded it off for a Jazz for some reason. :rollno:
And without looking it up, it seems I saw an older MM Sub for around $600 or so the other day.
So your two are pushing the limit, but they are excellent instruments. Good call!

Let's just say... It can be done.

Boring answer here. I'd probably go with a MIM P and J. I guess retail would be a bit over a grand, but I'm sure I could find either a coupon or haggle a bit at a non chain store. Used is always an option. Probably could find one of each with some nice upgrades for 1000.

I’ve never paid $1000 for a bass, although I have basses worth more than that. Currently I own 8 basses, so I can view this question two ways, get rid of all but two, or start over with zero and buy two.

Option 1: Get rid of all but two

I have never loved a bass more than my Coronado II, but that has a lot to do with sentiment, I will admit, so she stays. Next would be my ‘72 MIA Jazz although for years I really didn’t care for it that much, until a pup went out and I replaced both with Fralins. I also have a Tricked Out AFN P that I’m extremely proud of which I actually like better than my J. It also as a Fralin , but I keep the J if I “HAD” to choose.

Option 2: House burnt down and starting over

I’m a big fan of USA Peavey so I’d get a Axcelerator or Foundation for less than $350, and a Squier CV P for $350. But if you forced me to spend $1000, than a used Cirrus, $650, and a Squier CV P.

BTW, A really good Squier is a really good bass, but sometimes you can get a lemon. I'm trying my best to like my VM SS Jag because, for one, it's short scale, and two, I've heard such good things about them from the club. My AFN P was a better bass before any mods were done. Maybe I got lucky.
