Oh dear. That is sad. Knew it only by reputation. Friends lived near Marietta, raved about it even more than the Claremont Lounge.

The building still exists, but it was bought by a developer a few years ago and turned into retail and condos. Sad, but a sign of the times. That area has had a complete transformation over the last 10 years. I remember when it was super sketchy.

"Hella Good" by No Doubt. That song is so simple, yet so much fun to play because of that groove/stank/feel. I could totally go for broke on stage presence, jumping all around, while still effectively playing that bass line. And if I'm hopping, the audience will catch that vibe and start hopping too. And that would be such a fun show!

The old Masquerade is sadly now gone. I saw a million shows there when it existed and even gigged there once.

Damn, I did not know that, but it’s been almost 20 years since I lived in Atlanta. That was a great venue. Three floors of performance space plus the occasional outdoor shows at the Masquerade Music Park.

Something new with a few of my longtime musician friends, in one of our houses or jam spaces. And happily, this actually happens pretty regularly.

Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman, with a long instrumental break.

Or Pipeline, with a lead guitarist who can play at least three complete tunes in the break, including the Munsters theme, the Batman theme, and one more. They all work without changing the bass line and you can make the tune last about 8-10 minutes.
