If you couldn't play Bass anymore......

guitar, cuz it was my first instrument and of the ones i play other than bass, the one i'm best at and enjoy the most.
I would simply play a Guitar Tuned an octave down 
I started on piano. I still play piano, but no where near as much as I'd like, so it seems fitting to go back to it with vigor.
Probably slide guitar!
I was facing the very same situation. My wrist and fingers started to fail in 2012. A TB member told me about supplements he took so he can continue playing, after he fell through floors at work. I got to say I went from three minutes of playing to 3 1/2 hours. I started buying basses again. I probably wouldn't have sold some of the basses. Anyway good luck! I'm thinking that if you couldn't play bass anymore, then chances are you've lost the ability to use a hand or arm. So, with that thought in mind I'm on board with everyone who said "drums" because clearly Rick Allen proved it can be done, right?
Doesn't stop Bill Clements from playing bass.

I have hearing loss and CTS in both arms, so the reality of eventually having to leave playing bass behind is already there. When that finally happens, I have sometimes kicked around the idea of learning to play drums, but at my age, realistically...
I own acoustic guitar, electric guitar, baritone guitar, congas, cajon, and mandolin. I think I'll be okay if the bass disappears tomorrow.....
Yes the drums! I love them! After owning a lot of different high end drums and selling them. I was surprised how much you did not have to spend for a decent set! I sold an early 60's Ludwig Set in Champagne Sparkle to Tracii Gunz. Because of my tight space, I bought a Small Pearl Kit. I love it!

Piano/Keys. Have always had keyboards around and have always done all the keys/midi work in the studio for my bands. Here's an example of some piano and string stuff. but yeah I enjoy playing keys because of huge variety of sounds. Being able to do everything from piano, to strings, to pads, to synth bass, you name it. It's fun and it's pretty inexpensive when you think about it because most good keyboards have a big variety of sounds and effects built in and you never have to spend money on strings like with bass where I prefer to keep the rounds wounds pretty fresh.
my second choice would be trumpet. I have two. Started playing trumpet when I was 9 and still enjoy picking it up from time to time. But it's a tough instrument to stay on top of if it's not your main instrument. Because requires a good amount of practicing to be able to play well. When first started playing jazz gigs for the first year I played trumpet before becoming the bass player.

If I lost a hand, there's harmonicas. Chromatic or stacked for key changes. Used to play that in downtime in my tower crane.
But most likely I'd go back to production on the computer. Scratch the writing itch.
