If you were given $4k

Right now, I honestly don't need a new rig or a new bass. I'm completely satisfied with what I have.

BUT, if I HAD to spend it, I would probably get my SVT-VR fixed and re-housed by Emperor Cabinets. Perhaps ebony or a dark walnut. Then, I'd buy an old SVT-810 and have Emperor do the same to that. If I had money left over, I'll get them to make me a case for my P-bass that matches the whole rig.

Another option would be to get Bergantino or Lowdownsound cabs (a 610 and a 215), then use the leftover money to get another custom from Dan Atkinson.

For basses, I would go for a Pino custom shop signature (is it around 4000? Oh well), Geddy Jazz, something like that. An Atkinson custom would be awesome, as someone already mentioned.

As far as other things bass related, an Ampeg or an Orange head and cab would be nice. In all honesty, I would go for an electric guitar or acoustic guitar setup. A nice Gibson, Martin, or Taylor would be very nice. If not music related, save it for college like a smart student would.

If I had to spend it on a new bass I'd buy two. An American Fender Jazz deluxe and some kind of ultra modern wizbang 5 or 6 string for chording, tapping alternate tuning and all around experimentation. Or, I might try to find a used Zon Hyperbass or put the 4k toward a new one.

If I didn't have to spend it on a bass I would rather buy the tools to learn how to make my own basses.

...but HAD to spend it on a new rig or a new bass, which would you choose?

Models, makes
some kind of P bass by someone that builds P basses or at least something that sounds exactly like one of my P basses.

and reasons please :-)

... because I play P basses ! ;)

... at one point I did email back and forth with Skjold about doing a Lions Pride type super P, but there was a deal breaker or two in the specs that I couldn't get them to budge on .
