Agreed. Colors look very similar to the Ray4 line. I was also hoping for a production model short scale. Sterling‘s NAMM2023 collection didn’t announce any new basses/colors either.
These are great, but I was really hoping they’d announce a short scale 5-string. I’d love a shorty in either the USA or Sterling line.
I don't have experience with an American Professional, I'm sorry. My only current American Fender is a Performer Precision PJ. I will say that the Aerodyne surprised me at how clasically J it sounds. It looks kinda futuristic, but sounds like a beautiful blast from the past. All the growl and bite you'd want from a Jazz. Clean and clear, too. They are true single coil pickups, but very quiet when soloed. Crazy fast and smooth neck. Impeccable fretwork. It was the first Japanese Fender I ever bought. I love it so much I quickly bought the other two Japanese Fenders! All three have been nothing short of incredible, especially when considering they are available brand new for Mexican Fender money.
Back to the OP, though. I'm thinking I need a 4 string Ernie in blue, and a 5 in the green. Yea. That's the ticket!

Generally I like these colors on Fender style instruments, but they look a little funny on a Stingray to me. The nice thing about EBMM is if you don't like the finish options for that year, you can buy used from a previous year's finish which have a ton of options, or just wait a year and something new could catch your eye.
A buttercream 4H with a tortoise guard would be killer.
If I calculate inflation over the purchase price of my EBMM bass 30 years from now and compare it to today's price. Has it remained fairly stable.
I like the pink in theory but the photo makes it almost look more like slightly pink beige so I'd have to see other photos/in person to tell. but overall pretty good colors. the sea breeze is also nice.
I like these pastel finishes, especially the Sea Breeze and Laguna Green, but probably not enough to buy one at today's prices. I'd like to see 'em in person, though.
