Watch out for "Capture Cops" around here. Some people are equating things like renting and capturing to stealing. As far as I can tell, there are no laws or court cases on capturing gear. I do find laws against using Trademarks. For example if "Noble" is Trademarked it would be best to not use "Noble" on the capture name. I see IK and other now use wordplay like "Based on Noble ..." and "Based on Dumble ...".
This doesn't seem the violate trademark names.
This is one reason all the modelers have goofed up preset names for gear that has been modeled/captured.

Good luck, and I hope to see piles of bass gear in the capture libraries soon.

Oh if i pull the trigger, it would just be for our community. Not concerned about the money aspect. More concerned that this pretty rad piece of gear exists, and a lions share of the bass profiles are not very usable for anyone not playing heavier music. I checked around a couple backline rental places in Nashville, and not having much luck sourcing the things we as a community would want. Dropping several g's on old preamps even to flip is a big pill to swallow tho. But, I am bored and annoyed, so I might just do it lol

I've used Amplitube for some time now for silent/travel practice using an iPad and iRig, and I have used some Amplitube models on a few sessions over the past few years. So, I have some ears on experience with that. I'm intrigued by the pedal versions of these devices and am really impressed by the tech involved, but I kind of wonder how they would work for my playing situations.

For live and session work I have spent a reasonable amount of time building a stage and studio rig that I really like (and gets the thumbs up from people who hire me). Pretty simple really: bass (generally passive) => Cali76CB => Phat Phuk B => VT => Noble DI out to amp & FOH. I'm not called on to use FX very often (other than the EQ shaping of the Noble and VT) and maybe just a bit of grit from the VT at times, and when I do, it's potentially just an occasional filter and/or octaver. I typically use the same for sessions (minus FX) unless I'm directed to do otherwise. Amps/cabs involved are Mesa WD800 or Walkabout into either a Berg NV212t or CN112 depending on how much monitor I need on stage. I am equipped for (wired) IEM and end up using that about 1/2 the time for live work and I'm trying to increase that number whenever possible.

From reading this thread, it seems those using the IK Tonex pedal, mostly go through a power amp (or powered cab) & FRFR cab .... or are running IEM only and a silent stage. I wish I was there as far as going with no stage amp/cab, but for now that's aspirational.

From reading here, it seems as if Tonex already has amps and cabs that I could probably use for my generally clean tone approach just fine. It also appears to have a solid Noble model, which is very cool as I love my real one. I'm good to spend the $$ to go this route but I'm not quite sure what it would get me in my current playing situation.
My pedal board is pretty small and my amp/cab is never a hassle to move ... although no amp/cab would be even easier.

So, any insight on use cases that would help me make a decision here is welcome.

hey man, sorry I missed this post! So I actually AM playing live with my tonex. Tonex is feeding the bands in ears. I send that signal to a stage amp when the house PA needs help carrying the bass. I use the onboard eq to kind of flatten the cab a little. Sounds better than it should. I will say, I have had sound men ask for more gain from the DI signal, which was hitting the front of the amp harder than i wanted to. Not a huge con, just gotta know that to work around it.

I get the FOH/IEM application. What are you using as far as stage amp/cab ? I seems to me that, given the kind of signal that's coming from the Tonex (all the flavor of a modeled pre, EQ and maybe even some IR), you'd want a very flat/neutral rig on stage.

normally i would assume the same. I, however, am cheap. my normal stage rig is a Markbass Little Mark Tube 800 and an Epifani ul 4x10. I eq it to sound passable on stage as its only for air movement for the drummer or low end reinforcement for the pa in smaller clubs.

@Giff, a few of us are beta testing the first bass amp captures from Amalgam Audio (who have done a stellar job with vintage guitar amp captures).

Agreed @Jon, these captures are killer. I'm not even sure I will have any constructive criticism, they are that stellar.

ok I’m not nuts. I was testing and was just like…yeah that’s pretty perfect.

as far as what they are of, I’m not sure if we are allowed to divulge… but I’ll leave some breadcrumbs. It’s a manufacturer I never paid attention to for bass amps. It was a MINOR blip on my radar. But these profiles are waaaaaay versatile.
