IK TONEX pedal

I have a couple QSC k10.2s. I like them, but think I might get a sub to really help when they get loud. Probably only need one top with the sub. I found them for about $500 each, so a pretty good price, especially if you can get away with just 1.

Uhh, I'm finding the plugin very glitchy in Logic. Sometimes the plugin cannot apply the effect to the track, and only bursts of the effect come out. Pretty useless.

No idea what's going on. Is the plugin pushing my mac too much? I have just drums and bass, it's far from a complete mix in there. I'll contact IK..

I have the exact opposite issue in garageband. Like i can't MAKE the thing crash. m1 MBP here.

This may only help me, but this would be a workaround for the no ir-less output. Guess you would have to mic your cab, but its something....

"You can use a guitar cab if you turn off cab sims. (Hold top left button down, scroll to global settings, click, scroll to cab, click, turn to bypass) But you still need a power amp. "---- from Reddit.

Amalgam Audio, who are doing the best guitar catures for Tonex (and also QC) is about to do a few bass rigs. A few of us here are beta testers for him. I’m not sure why you need so many marginally usable rigs over a few great ones, but if that’s what you need, Tonex isn’t there yet.

Having been (sad face) an ex label artist who had the opportunity to tour the world. I was able to play some amazing rigs over the last 30 years. My issue: Ampeg isn't always the right sound...Just like a Fender Bass isn't always the right bass. It IS a great sound...but.. TBH the Ampeg / DarkGlass circle jerk is at a fever pitch and has collectively killed the visibility of so many great heads/cabinet combinations. There are so many fantastic Bass Rigs that include neither of those units, which have completely different colour. Many of which are a better sound for many applications. Bergantino, GlockenKlang, Trace Elliot (old stuff), Eden, GK, (the old stuff the new 'legacy line" is awful), Aguilar, Hartke, Peavey, Fender (classic).

Anyway you get my point.

I’m on the same page as you. I’m not into Ampeg or darkglass. My favorite amps of the last almost 40 years have been fender, Eden, ‘90s trace Elliot, and most recently bergantino.

Amalgam is about to capture a fender and a marshal for bass use. Go over to the amalgam thread on gear page and put in your votes for other amps. He’s very open. And you can probably get in as a beta tester on his captures if you have a way to use them.

Just the other day, I tried changing cabs on some of stock and downloaded captures that I felt were kinda vanilla. It made a few of them much more usable and inspiring! They were all cabs that were part of stock or downloaded captures. I didn’t spend a ton of time, just scrolled through cabs until I found one that sang. Nice!

Ok, the Tonex is gone. Guitar player couldn't fiddle with it for recording, and there was not really much there for bass really. I'd have liked to see more variety, Marshalls, Fenders with bass cabs, old amps, bass OD pedals, and such.

Also, it only provides line level output, which is not very convenient if most of times you play with a different amp rig.

At least IK simplified the code transfer, and without fees.

I have bought a 2nd hand one. I am now working very hard to get the licence transfered by the seller. If I had realised how much hassle it was then I would have just bought it new. Let that be a warning to 2nd hand buyers. Make very sure the licence transfer is included in the deal.

Good advice. Also get a receipt of some kind if possible! I bought a used X-time from Sam Ash, and IK was very helpful in kicking off the old owner from that pedal so I could register it. Private sales will be more difficult to prove of course…
