IK TONEX pedal

Not exactly apples-to-apples, but I found the stock captures/IRs on offer from Two Notes also required a fair bit of massaging and tweaking in order make them really pop. And they really sound good once you give them that time! But it's also the same problem with there being not many options for bass captures, especially as compared to the guitar section.

I feel it won't be too long into the future where we'll start to see more dedicated bass-focused captures turning up. Maybe some more third parties will get involved; Mesa did a series of IRs for their Subway series cabs (Two Notes, not ToneX...), and they're the best sounding ones I've used by a mile. More of that, please! :D

I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these as well. A huge part of “my sound” is from my amp, but that setup barely fits in my car and is very heavy. I’d also love to be able to send that sound to FOH or into a DAW/console from my pedalboard. So I figure I could use this to “capture” that tone, and then any extra stuff in the library is just icing on the cake - am I correct in my assumption that such an application is where the ToneX shines? I don’t have the budget for something like a Kemper or QC.

Cheers!

EDIT: it appears this doesn’t have a balanced/XLR output, which I guess is fine but may necessitate the addition of a Direct Box, right?
Real quick - for my purposes, I would also need to purchase the "ToneX Capture" device assuming nobody has modeled my amplifier yet, is this correct?

FYI, IK Multimedia just included a nice vintage Acoustic 360 amp with SVT-810E cabinet in the latest Tonex software update. Its dialed in as a clean tone, and captured with an SM57 and a U87. Its one of the best Tonex bass models yet, in my opinion. Also, Amalgam Audio has mentioned they will be modeling their Super Bass 100 for bass in the near future.

I had said I was going to get an HX Effects, but I wound up changing direction. The thought is that this is a different option from the Helix… I still had the Ventris (which is awesome), and I picked up a Boss MD-500 and DD-500. I really like what this combination is doing for me! I haven’t decided whether to use the Empress as an always-on comp or as a boost. It sounds great both ways. And the PJB PE-5 is a great neutral DI, and I can easily modify EQ for each room without having to do it on the Tonex. I can also bypass the EQ and run the 1/4” out to my guitar amp for 6-string fun. I still haven’t done a bunch of guitar profile downloads, but what’s in there is still stellar! And the “feel” is there. I did try the X-Time delay pedal, and while I liked the sounds, the tap tempo implementation and clicky footswitches put me off. The shimmer delay is phenomenal and almost made it worth keeping.

FYI, Karlis (Amalgam Audio) is looking for one more beta tester for first set of Tonex captures for bass guitar: "The player needs to have a solid background in bass guitar and a good understanding of what works best in a mix and band situation for bass." And, of course, you need to be a Tonex user.
