Hey guys

Usually Im a Rotosound guy but I finally took the plunge and got a set of DR Nickel Low Riders and 2 sets of Sunbeams.

All I can say is WOW..

The Lo-Riders have everything in terms of feel, playability and sound I had been searching for. Really responsive strings.

I have a gig tonight and I cant wait to try them out.

As for the Sunbeams they are so warm but with that bite when you need it.

Guess im a DR guy now and I couldnt be more satisfied.

DR strings are just great IMO, I just put on a set of Fat Beams for the first time. Very nice!

Have been using Hi Beams and Lo Riders a lot, and now have a set of Sunbeams on the way, should work nicely for fretless.

Never had a dead strings, quality seems to be very consistant. My favourite brand for sure.

I used to use nothing but Ernie ball super slinkies for years, then started using DR black beauties and loved how the coating made them sound new for months, whereas the Balls were dead after 2 weeks. Recently started using steel lo-riders and I've just been blown away by them. I love how they feel tighter, and how they allow the action to be set super low. Just an all around amazing string.

I have been playing for less than a year and after I changed out the orignal strings on my new bass I went to DR Fatbeams and thought they sounded great , Im now switching them out today with LoRiders.

I'm in same group as swirtched from rotosound swing66 to DR. DR neons. Tried sunbeams 3 times, but theyre too lacking in that bit of treble top the neons have. Makes them sound like broken in neons, but near that stretch where its getting time to change strings. I still reccomend roto swing66 as great strings of course. And they'll continue as my litle change of pace strings.

Better low bass articulation then other strings and overall very pleasant hifi sound lows thru highs. Doesnt subtract from the crunch factor of pups, & woods used. None of the treble harshness lots of strings have to me. Works well with musical fret rattle, retains good sound after breakin. Though I do notice DR neons have a day or two of mids not sounding right as they start to get broken in. Then that dissapears and back to good mids.

I used DR's on my Modulus 5 string before I sold it. I was going to put Low Riders on my Jazz Bass but decided to try GHS Pressure Wounds instead and I love them but eventually I'll have a set of Low Riders for it as well. To me either brand is great. Both make high grade stuff.

A question if I may. I'm using DR Fat Beams on my AM STD Jazz 5 string and have them strung thru the body. I like them, but sometimes I think I'd like something with just a bit more tension. Not a huge amount, but just that little extra. I bought the bass this past December and I'm still in the experiment mode with strings.

In terms of tension how do the Lo Riders compare to the Fat Beams?

Love 'beams on my old G-3, so smooth on the fingers and very wild sound, like really warm but with a growl like Roto 66's. Black Beauties on my jazz, I love the feel, very.cool visually and they sound great. I have a pack of low riders sitting here but haven't tried them yet.... maybe on my Epi Tbird? It has sunbeams on it too. Maybe the stainless Riders will give it a bit more definition?

I used nickel Lowriders once. Hated 'em. Used High Beams a few times. Went back to my old brand (D'Addario). Used Fat Beams for a minute. Thought they were great, but not great enough to pay extra for. Used Sunbeams. Still think they're great. Used Dunlop nickels, thought they sounded good as Sunbeams. Went with the Dunlops 'cause they were cheaper. Found out the Dunlops were developed with the help of a former DR guy. Stayed with the Dunlops. You should try 'em once. :)

I'd use the Sunbeams again. Good choice!

Well whatever you do, don't get Rotosounds! DR's are the smoothest stainless steel strings out there, you may be used to ultra smooth rounds like Sunbeams. Steels are too rough for me too :)
