Im a DR guy now..

Installed Fatbeams on my P/J 5 today. DR is the consistent go to string for me. I was having a quick fling with Dunlops but thats all over i dumped them like a hot potato today.
Ran back to hot Ms. DR and was all over her dynamics and harmonics in band practice today.

I started running low riders a few months back and don't see myself changing anytime soon. I get great sound and life out of them.

the tone and the life is what does it for me. They just plain last longer than any other string that I've used (minus flatwounds). Can't really see myself using another string unless I can't afford a set of DR's lol. The .100-.045 hi beams with a pick is my sound

Sound, feel, construction. I just can't get my sound out of any other string, and nothing else feels quite like DR Sunbeams.

I've been sold on DR's since I was offered a set back in the late '90's... Main reason for me is their consistency and longevity.

I put a set of DR Longnecks on my Peavey Grind 5er. I LOVE the tone of these strings and they have a great B string even though it is only a 125. (But then again the fact that the Grind is 35" scale may have something to do with that )

For me the DR stainless lo-riders are my favourite strings for both nuanced and bludgeoned sounds. I play everything from lounge jazz to aggressive rock on the 1 bass with the right strings. Not endorsed by DR but love them and recommend to all of my bass students.

Just posted about this two weeks ago. I was using Dean Markley NPS Roundcore .040-.100's on my Peavey Foundation fretless since I bought her over a year ago. With a new band debuting this week, and getting some other new gear, I was ready for a trial with new strings. I read more reviews than I could count on every brand out there, and decided on the DR Sunbeams. So many fretless players had raved about them, I had to try 'em out. They are indeed lower tension, and as said here also, the warmth is killer, and the bite is there if you need it. This is everything I had been looking for in a string, and my fretless has thanked me with a playability smoother than I was already used to, and a tone that sings for days. Verdict: DR Sunbeams are the s**t!

Well, since I'm diff keeping the warlock bass long term I'm going back to rotosound swing 66 as main strings with dr neons as alternate. The neons colors just dont look that good with light natural color body finish to me. metal looking strings look better. And since rotosounds sound just as good, there better choice for me from now on as main string.Sunbeams, hibeams, low riders dont do what I want sound wise. And cant compete with rotosounds for favored sound.

I agree with you on the DR steel Lo-Riders. I they play very well with my Lakland 44-64

I have Sunbeams on my 72 PBass and love them. Great balance and tone. But Chromes on my Hofner and Roto66 on my Jazz. Don

I've been using Nickel Lo-Riders on my 5 for the last year, with the exception of the last set. I put a set of EB Slinkys on it and couldn't get them off fast enough. I didn't like the tone, feel, lower tension or really anything about them. I took em off after about 2 months and just replaced em with Lo-riders. Feeling much happier now! I put a set of Neons on one of my 4's and have been pretty happy with them so far. I'm going get some green Neons for another 4 for a St Patty's gig we have coming up. Should be pretty cool.

I've been through a bunch of strings and always came back to DR with the Nickel Lo-Riders being my favorite.
I had my stints with Dunlop Nickels, Roto 66 nickels, Dr's own steel lo-riders and the Sunbeams, Fender 7250, Daddario XLs, Smiths...I'll take DR's Nickel Lo-Riders any day, they live a few months, they put out a wonderful balanced tone and they have a great feel that I much prefer over round cores.

I used nickel Lowriders once. Hated 'em. Used High Beams a few times. Went back to my old brand (D'Addario). Used Fat Beams for a minute. Thought they were great, but not great enough to pay extra for. Used Sunbeams. Still think they're great. Used Dunlop nickels, thought they sounded good as Sunbeams. Went with the Dunlops 'cause they were cheaper. Found out the Dunlops were developed with the help of a former DR guy. Stayed with the Dunlops. You should try 'em once.

I'd use the Sunbeams again. Good choice!

To me, and it may be a combination of my playing style, amps, and bass, but I felt like Dunlops just didn't have the same warmth as Sunbeams, and the G strings was horribly lacking low end.

But I must agree, they have strong DR-like tendencies, and are a cheaper alternative!

I'm DR for life now.

I use only Hi-Beams but I kill strings within a few weeks due to sweat. Now that I tried out the Dragon Skins (coated Hi-Beams), I'm never buying another string again.

I have to say....after being a hardcore TI fan for years I have come over to the DR side. Jazz Rounds are still amazing strings BUT for the cost I just can't justify them as much and in addition I can get the Sunbeams in a slightly larger gauge. So, I am with you guys. DR Sunbeams are fantastic.
