I'm about to commit a TB sin.

Yesterday I pulled $2,300 out of my account. As im looking at the cash I have the incredible urge to but a Rick.
But I only owe $2,100 on my truck. So despite my intense gas pains im going to do the fiscally responsible thing and pay off my truck. Six months early I might add.

This hurts my sole a little but I'll be able to grab a Rick in no time since I'm dropping a $340 monthly payment. Not to mention the money on insurance saved switching from full coverage to liability. If I decide to do that.
Good day to you's

Smart man to pay off the asset first, and worry about GAS later.

I kind of did the opposite. I just de-listed my 1976 Jazz Bass on ebay/BasschatUK. I was going to use the proceeds to get my CC balance to zero. I was going to buy a MIM or Squire bass to get me through. Couldn't do it though. I decided I will try to sell off other items and keep the great bass.

The point is, it's always good to aim toward zero debt. I'll get there, but not by selling my Jazz bass.

If you had put that cash toward a RIC i bet you would have had massive regret when the honeymoon was over.

That would be nice. I take the philosophy of paying myself first. Meaning I take a set percentage of my income and set it aside. Preferably somewhere where it can gain interest before i pay bills. Pay bills carry a small amount of cash for incidentals and live modestly. That provides me with the ability to splurge once and a while or take care of an emergency. In this case I've allotted a larger percentage that can be set aside. Thus making the $1,500 or so hurt less when that splurge comes along.
If that makes any sense at all.
Yeah, I was just kidding with you about that. Most people I know don't just have cash in an account for every time they get the urge to go out and buy a Bass. I certainly don't although I am trying to figure out how to pay for my Barefaced BTII out of my income taxes without my wife knowing. I still have about a month to come up with the funds while it is being built. I do try to put away some of my gig money every weekend when I get paid so I should be good by then.
Anyway good luck with getting that Ric and do remember to post pics.

No sin in being smart!

I do have to hand it to you, you are much more disciplined than I was when I was your age with money, good job. If you can put the whole money you were paying for the truck aside for a year you could buy the Ric and a real nice rig to go with it. I am with most others in that you did the right thing and also I am with them in that you should keep the full coverage.

good man. I approve.

I pretty much did the same thing when I got my tax returns. I paid off a debt collector, a credit card, and a college loan. I still owe $4000 on my car, I owe about $1900 on a credit card from a hospital bill and I have two very large college loans that I will probably never pay off. It'll be a while before I can afford a bass with cash out of pocket. :(
