I really tried not to. I told him that he needed to accept responsibility for his negligence and to apologize to me, but he didn't. Actually, he texted my later that night after the gig and told me that he has "a bassist lined up that doesn't **** around on bar gigs when his (my guitarist's) name is on the line, and that I can't just show up to a gig whenever I feel like it." I told him he was acting like a spoiled brat.

Yeah, the thing is I'm usually the most 'pro' of my band, which probably accounts for him giving me that speech - it was a way for him to be 'better than me'. I always know the music, (besides last time) I'm always on time, I always have my gear ready with spares to share... there's really nothing to complain about when it comes to me unless you just dislike me - which, given him, isn't an impossibility.

I think Scott hit the nail in the head. I created a Google calender and a Facebook page in order to prevent these sorts of miscommunications. But go figure, he didn't use them in this situation, so it's more my word against his... and you can't fix an a-hole. If there's something I can add to TB it's this - you can be 'perfect' and still not be good enough.

Jmatt - I'm kinda late to the party here and it looks like you will be moving on. Just wanted to say after watching the youtubes of your band that I have no doubt you'll do well with any band you play in. The youtube sounded great but above that, you (assuming that's you with the Stingray) had fantastic stage presence. You rarely looked at your fretboard, you were always panning the crowd, you kept moving all the time, your staying nice and fit and your chops sounded good. The other players were ok but to be honest you, the drummer and the keyboard/singer were the energy of the group. Not sure which of the guitarists was giving you fits but the lefty should take tips from you on stage presence and the right handed one could step it up a bit too.
Hang in there, I'm sure you'll do well elsewhere. BTW, I've been to that Hardrock a few times and the live bands were always good, I may have even seen your band if that recording was made in mid Feb.
