I'm thinking of going vegetarian

I didn't read much of this thread but i'm going to post what i know hopefully it will help the OP.

First off im going to say DONT DO IT. Educate yourself first.

My father has been vegetarian for as long as i have been alive and he is healthy. Someone said to eat boca burgers and morning star breakfasts and such. Yea, this is okay but not for the bulk of your diet. If your going to eat that stuff constantly you might as well eat meat. To be healthy you need to know a little about nutrition and how to eat. Tofu is great and can be used to make pretty much anything. Asian foods are great. They hardly eat meat and some of those diets are the healthiest you can eat.

Im not well read on the topic but i would highly suggest 'preping' yourself before you dive into it. I tried it for a couple months and it didn't work for me. Its pretty easy to do but when i was at other peoples houses its hard to eat because most people arent vegan. If you stop eating meat and then you try some in a couple months it wont even appeal to you anymore i bet. When i went back to eating meat(i was only vege for a very short period of time)i hardly enjoyed eating coldcuts the first time i ate it atain.

Yeah my advice is don't get advice from a failed vegetarian, no offense.

I don't really understand the "healthier" argument given by vegetarians as a reason to convert. Humans evolved eating meat in their diets, I don't see how abandoning what our bodies were designed to do is healthier. Although I don't agree with the moral arguments for vegetarianism, I think that one should look hard at that angle if they decide to walk the path, as it is IMO the only reason.

Yeah you pretty much have no idea what you're talking about.
Darwin said himself that humans could never have naturally ate meat. And if we did evolve to eat meat, we wouldn't have to cook it. The reality is we have to set it on fire to stop it from killing us when we eat it, and it still has to be really fresh. The silliest thing you've said is that we're abandoning our bodies design. Humans first of all were not designed, nor were we design with the goal of humanity to eat meat. There is so much evidence that we do not naturally eat meat, yet you choose to open your mouth about something you never even looked into.

fish dont have feelings eat them and im pretty sure its healthier than read meat

p.s. the person who suggested chicken as an alternative is dumb chickens are the worst suffering animals of all,

hey and another question does anybody hear consider halal meat more barbaric than just killing the animal with a bolt of electricity, well im just sayin at least it will die instantly

were omnivores we eat anything, so stick that in your biological pipe and smoke it

Not really. The first thing you said was Don't do it.

I don't know what this post is getting it. Yes i said don't do it because he should learn where he can get the nutrients he will be missing by no longer eating meat before he dives into being a vegetarian.

If my original post wasn't clear enough my advice was TO stop eating meat only to know what your doing before you abandon eating meat all together.

We're omnivores?
First off.
I'm a herbivore.
What a creature can do and can does are two completely different things.

Lmao You don't do much research do you? Making claims based off of hearsay.
Fish have a central nervous system so they do feel pain.

"Man came before the axe and fire so he couldn't be carnivorous."

man adapted, as our ancestors learned how to hunt naturally from the beginning.

have you ever seen some of the old skulls, before we had way sharper teeth, we were built for more then being vegetarian.

If it were natural we would have all been eating plants by now so I'm sorry, we are omnivores.

Also reason I feel nothing wrong with eating meat is the fact that I belive in that^^^^ and that animals are way crueler when they eat other animals. I see it as natural.

So is soya

Soya doesn't provide certain essential amino acids your body needs. Being a vegetarian requires close attention to getting the proper combinations of vegetable proteins and other nutrients. There is no benefit to it and it's basically a pain in the butt to stay on top of it. If you fail, you suffer significant health risks.

Further, humans are natural omnivores. We don't have the proper dentition for herbivorousness. Those canine teeth you have evolved from tearing meat off animals. Your body isn't well-suited for a vegetarian diet. Most, if not all, vegetarians I have known over the years have eventually returned to eating meat for a plethora of reasons, all of them good. The latest of these is one of my god-daughters who is again eating meat after about a year and a half of vegetarianism.

Eating meat in moderation is a superb way to get nutrients not easily obtained from other foods. Most Americans (I don't know about Brits), including yours truly, eat way too much meat. Four ounces a day is plenty. But I just like the flavor of a big chunk of animal grilled to perfection.

Sure is enough reason for me, but each to his own!

Soy products is not the holy solution to veggie cooking, and you are right, to go veggie you need to do a little research to make sure you get everything you need in your diet.

However, it's not rocket science (assuming you have been cooking more than just beans and eggs in your life) ...
