Ask for the original CL Ad. i dont know the legal aspects in america, but in Austria it is illegal to sell something broken without disclaiming it.
If your friend didnt tell you it and neither did the CL Ad, you can easily get a lawyer and get your money back (in austria you dont even need to go to court for this).

And if the seller disputes the claim?

We don't know if the seller knew the issue, or would take that position. I would assume whether in Austria or any other place, you would then have to have a trial for a factfinding.

Right now it is no interest for 4 years on Ampeg and several other bass heads. The deal goes until Dec 31

well, seems like in austria it is much easier. Here would would probably need an hour with a lawyer who would set up a form and then you have to wait.

So the law sided with the buyer despite any facts presented or claims made by the buyer??

I'm not that familiar with Aussie law, but somehow I doubt this concept....

+1 on the going GK. Tons of power for cheap prices. And it's not like buying a budget beginners amp. You're buying a quality amp that will serve you for years to come if you want it.

Yes, GK is the obvious answer, assuming you're going to buy a bass head, and you're on a budget, and without a lot of time to shop for the deal of the century, and you don't want to settle for something inferior. Later, you can sell it, or keep it as a backup amp (essential for the gigging musician). I mean, it's a GK, you might find that you don't *want* to sell it.

I'm guessing they get their money like that unless the seller contests their claims. Same thing as in the US - it's called negotiation.

Typically it's called litigation. Sure, you can demand money from anyone over threat of suit and they might just pay. But this guy was inferring that the Austrian process was write letter-get cash.

I know. I don't think their system is quite that clear cut. I write demand letters all the time, but it isn't often that the other side capitulates.
