The module option is fun and adds to the versatility. But the three pickup above is ridiculously versatile. I dialed in several different basses with ease... and some over the top stuff too. Seriously looking forward to hearing this one in the mix. If it does what I think it will...

Bridge humbucker with and without middle 59J
Bridge single outer coil with and without 59J
Neck 59J with and without middle 59J
Neck 59J and Bridge with and without 59J, with or without coil tap at bridge.

And all of this with a four knob layout with two stacked knobs and a single toggle switch. Dave did a great job on the configuration and execution.

Kevin is a bass genius. I have to wonder, though, why the original body design has completely disappeared, as it was sort of signature, and also, why now another jazz clone? I'm sure his will be the only ones with spalted, fiery, amazing woods and colors. Just wondering.

I would really love someone to come up with something cool again. Like when the original Kubicki body arrived, like when the original Dano Longhorn arrived, and the Steinberger.

And polished Barts...brilliant! They've needed to do something about their finish since they brought it out.

Funny you should mention that. A friend of mine just ordered a bass that's modeled after my 2002 Xtreme 5; squarer edged K5 singlecut, swept back original upper singlecut horn, heavy Northern Ash, Spalted Maple body, fingerboard and headstock. It'll be the first time Kevin's made that body style in a long time.

The feeling was that people liked the more rounded sides of the current basses but I've always found my older ones to look more distinctive. I did a gig last night with my 2002 fretless K5 five and it proved again that it's the most amazing fretless I've ever played. It's easily my favorite slap bass, fretted or not. A punch monster with plenty of freedom. Maybe there'll be resurgence in request for the K5 body style, maybe not. In the meantime, I got mine;)

If you get a chance to play his Fender Jazz-inspired JXB series I think it'll explain why a J clone. Mine has Bart dual coils and sounds like a what I'd imagine a 70's six string Jazz could've sounded like, in single coil mode and then goes ten feet tall in dual coil mode, just an amazingly hard hitting bass when you play it that way and don't care about the welfare of those around you. It's a Brubaker Jazz in every sense of the word.

BTW the bass in my avatar is the older K body style. I love it.

You know, I hadn't even heard of the KBX500 until today, I'll have to try one out when I get a chance. Kustom makes great gear, even though they price their stuff pretty cheap. I still have a 90's PowerBass combo.

Nate's doing big things huh? Sweet!

Lots of things being completed. Preach just picked up his all Buckeye Burl JXB-6 Xtreme, I'll get a pic of that, it's not bad. There's a lefty JXB-6 going to a local friend that's pretty much done too. Saw these spec basses, thought I'd throw some pics up:

While building Preach's bass, I mentioned to Kevin that a lefty might appreciate a bass in the same vein. Buckeye Burl body, fingerboard and headstock. Time will tell if I'm wrong... I hope I'm not:D:
