Inception.... wow.

Me three! Saw it at the movies when it first came out, and just had to get a copy when it was released. I really wanted this: Inception Briefcase Blu-ray Exclusively at WBShop , but it was a limited run and sold out fairly quick.
Pretty well said, but I think they took it too easy on it. IMO It's one of the most over-rated films I've ever seen... I honestly can not for the life of me understand why ANYONE finds this movie to be anything other than completely and extremely average. Usually people's reviews of Inception seem more complex and well thought out than the film itself.
Because, in a number of ways, its a very well done film.
I know I enjoyed the hell out of it when I saw it in theaters. But I also knew I was walking into a Chris Nolan movie, which, to me, means that I'm preparing for two hours of flat, expository dialog--That's my biggest gripe with him as a writer/director. Wasn't a huge fan of the ambiguous ending either, but that's chump change.
Inception is a fun movie that is nothing less than visually astounding (spinning hallway fight--'nuff said), but as someone who has a deep love for the idea of the subconscious-as-setting, I think this sums up the issue perfectly:

i liked it--i didn't love it. I didn't really find it as complex as some people seemed to think...I thought it was pretty clear what was going on. I still liked it though.
I didn't really like it. It wasn't nearly as complex or confusing as it was made out to be. That's not a bad thing, but I had trouble paying attention to it, which generally isn't hard for me with even slow paced movies, it just wasn't very interesting.
I pretty much entirely agreed with this: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] along with the New Yorker article it refers to. It did seem like Nolan really wanted to squeeze a bond film into it (maybe better to just do that if that's what he really wants to do - as he has said he does) and the article is right that The Saragossa Manuscript does the layers of the onion/Russian nesting doll concept better.
I loved it. Just absolutely loved it. The idea, thea acting, the way the camera moved, the special effects...So gooood.
when Ellen Page was messing with the city i was like "oh man this is gonna be awesome, keep doing stuff like this the entire movie"

Agree. It peaked there IMO (and that was early) and actually seemed dreamlike. All the shootout stuff was far more mainstream movie-like and just started to feel really conventional to me.
I loved it myself. Im having my wedding suit fashioned after one of the suits Joseph Gordon Levitt wears in the movie.
