Inexpensive IEM systems

How much of a improvement in sound would you say the mi pro mi909 made over the g3 and have you used a shure psm300 if so how would it stack against that?
Never used the PSM300 at a full gig only tested it. Owned the PSM200 before going to the G3, and while the audio quality was OK, I hated the dual-mono config.
The audio in the MI909 is great, sounds better than the G3 (IME) but that might be related to the operational frequency band vs the device itself.
Sure, the 909 is much newer than the G3, and it also operates in the [lower] 480-541Mhz range vs the 566-608Mhz range. It has a wider 64Mhz bandwidth (aka more channels) vs 42Mhz for the G3. Plus.. after a channel scan the 909 actually syncs the receiver/xmitter, something I could never get the G3 to do easily.
It's also CHEAPER than the G3 and MUCH cheaper than the G4.
With what I got for selling the G3, the 909 package (at the time) incl. rack mounts and antenna extender, it cost me $50 (and I had the G3 for 5+ yrs and 100's of gigs!).
It was a no brainer for me!

Not sure if this will help OP or anyone reading this thread, but I bought the MIPRO MI-58 system. It's absolutely phenomenal. Full frequency response (yes, no high/low loss - it's digital). 2.2ms latency, no interference, good range within a typical stage. Can't fault it. Show me something with better specs - please.

Highly recommended. MIPRO is up there with Shure, Lectrosonics, Audio Technica, AKG.

My only concerns is there is no antenna combiner and I'm not a fan of the built in rechargeable batteries I prefer using my eneloop rechargeable AA batteries as they are easier and more affordable to replace plus I've already invested in them and a few 16 Bay smart chargers.

Indeed. And one Lectrosonics rig is all I need.
Never used one but...
At ~$3500+ for a Duet system (dual transmitter - M2T and a single receiver - M2R) one could/should reasonably expect it to be awesome.
Per the specs.. add in the ability to store 16 user profiles, reception range, 144Mhz bandwidth (3X+ the widest I could find on any other unit - other than PSM1000 at 2X the price), scan/sync, adjustable xmit power and you've got the Fodera of IEM systems on your hands.

I'd have to go back to doing 100+ gigs a year to justify that kind of outlay.. but ..if I were a "pro" then absolutely it'd be worth every dime!

My Lectro rig is going on 6 years old at this point. I bought the R400 receiver as part of a wireless measurement rig back in the production days. It was around $700. Then when I started playing again, I picked up the SMQV transmitter for $1400. So I have $2100 in this wireless rig that was bought over 2 different time periods.

I know they don't make those particular units anymore, so I'll probably have to call Karl Winkler at Lectro and see what he suggests for a newer bass wireless rig. The older unit is still working perfectly (never, ever a dropout), so I haven't had the need to look. I just damn sure hope it ain't $3500! Lectro also makes an IEM system and no, I've not nor do I think I'm even gonna ask (very interested in the MiPro rig you are using. But again, I've no need to replace my current G3 IEM system. Yet....:D)

At church, I've been offered a Shure Axient wireless rig to try and I'm gonna take them up on that soon.

I hardly call myself a pro, but yeah, I'm doing more and more gigs where a good wireless is even more justified. I've found what works and has never, ever let me down. That's worth something these days....

I wasn't aware that the Axient system had IEM's as part of the system. I was under the impression it was inbound.. rackmount receivers w/ antenna combiners w/ mic, and other xmitter devices.
Unless I totally misunderstood - as we were talking IEM's.. tho none of this gear qualifies as "cheap"! :D

Oh, no, no, I'm sorry I caused some confusion there. The church is offering an Axient wireless rig for me to check out with my bass. Just a simple rack-mount 2-channel receiver (!!!) and belt pack. Not IEMs!

When they upgraded on pastor headset rigs and vocalists' mics, they went with all Axient sticks and belt packs (and a fancy Shure head, a KSM model is all I know). No Lectro this time. And they are very pleased with the Axient stuff all the way around.

I know it's all quite pricey, but I tend to want to stay with what's working well for the pro audio folks. And I'm fortunate to be able to get dealer pricing on just about any of it. Lucky me...:D

EDIT: Hopefully, this thread can be steered back to reasonably priced IEM systems. I've been no help...:eyebrow:

I make a living from music, so I depend on gear to pay the bills. The MIPRO MI-58 system is rock solid. So much so that I'm also using it for remote full range PA speakers.

Here is a video of the frequency response vs a cable. It's incredible:
[use subtitles if need be]

And here is a range test:

So what exactly are people moaning about? They wished it cost more ?

All my research suggests that these are the deal of a lifetime compared to Sennheiser analog and more expensive pro systems.

Anyway, this is off-topic, but the auto-generated English subtitles are racist!

They translated Left as Raft, and Right as Light...

Haha! Yeah, they're not the best translations but you do get the general idea with it!

I'm just so impressed with the A/B test in the first video and it's true in my tests. Completely indistinguishable to a cable.

I'm just tired of brand snobs. MIPRO really do have a belter of an IEM system here. Completely digital with approx 2ms latency. The noise floor is soooo low. Insane.

I dumped my G3 for a Mipro 909 system having decided that the G4 upgrade simply wasn't worth the $$.
The 909 system - complete w/ rack ears, antenna extension cable, antenna and antenna mount cost me ~$50 after I sold off my 6-yr old G3 system!
Based on the time I've been using it (the 909).. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Mi-58 to replace it at some point! Audio is excellent!
Specs beat the G4 hands down.. as does the price! :)

PS: No affiliation with Mipro other than being a happy customer!

The MiPro seems like an attractive item.
I’ve been using the Xvive U4 simply for its portably to throw in my gigbag vs. carrying a separate rack or case, but a 5.8 unit with digital clarity goes have my attention
I tried a phenix UHF unit, which worked well as a low cost unit but suffered from slightly blurry sound.
