Yes. Was there on a cruise stop. Wife and I went diving - which included a wild taxi ride across the island (because the dive boat had already left, and we'd meet it on the other side). We got to dive 2 of the wrecked props from James Bond movies (the ship from "Never Say Never Again" and the plane from "Thunderball".
It was pretty cool.

Ever been to Brazil?

What would you do if a person you have worked beside and thought of as a close friend was arrested for a pretty heinous crime? Would you visit him, even if the crime is awful beyond imagining?

A friend I grew up with recently did 8 years fir a nasty attack on his ( then) wife. Nit been near him since the trial and have no intention of doing so.

[DEL]There's a difference between "thought of as a close friend" and "IS a close friend". If it was a friend, I would visit. "Someone I thought was a friend" - no.
A colleague of mine, many years back, was arrested for posting a porn site with photos he'd taken, including some underage girls. He was my age (late 30's back then). The girls were my daughter's age (at the time). No, I didn't visit him - I'd have hurt a hand slugging him through the bars.[/DEL]

I was driving home from work, I had 1967 Chrysler Newport with skirts. It had a 383 "g" code motor in it ( police special ) I had a significant amount of money dropped into it. It was my first ( and only since it was stolen a few months after this ) lowrider. It had power assist brakes on it. I was driving in farmland areas so usually haul ass ( about 110 ) in Woodland where I worked. Rd. 101 dead ends into a main thoroughfare which in turn feeds onto the freeway I take home. Well at my usual brake point the pedal was hard as a rock... and not slowing me down much at all. Keep in mind this is rush hour on the main road. I'm having a serious sphincter moment as I see the traffic and start pulling the e-brake. It helps, but I'm not gonna make it. I started laying on my horn hard. I guess fate smiled on me because a trucker was on the road coming left to right and must have seen me. He actually crossed traffic lanes and blocked traffic from going past him. On the other side of the main road is a deep drainage ditch and then rice patties. I made my turn at about 60ish and actually got up on two wheels. As I slid side ways, I gunned the gas and hoped for the best. I was lucky again as there was no on coming traffic to speak of. I swung out into the oncoming lane and then my car settled back onto four wheels. I coasted about 3 hundred yards to the corner gas station and pulled in. The big rig pulled in behind me. I didn't know I was on two wheels until he told me. He thought I was gonna fly into the patties for sure. When I opened the hood of my car, the power valve to my power assist booster was laying on top of my air cleaner. Hand on heart, not making this up. I can only guess some jack hole from work pulled it off as a joke.

I did - when I was young and poor, a great luthier, John Hawk (he's no longer building basses but made some amazing axes for some major players) took me in and guided me in building a bass from rough lumber - koa and maple
I designed it myself. A few years later when the Brian Bromberg came out... it looks like my bass. But my design was sort of my mental squash between a fender and a BC Rich.

I sold it to buy my first Tobias - at that time in my life, I had to sell my gear to buy new gear. It's the bass I most regret selling.

Are you happy with the bass(es) you have now?

For the most part, yes. I have an Ibanez GSR190 which always surprises me with how good it sounds. It's got a thick, rich bassy sound, and if it weren't for the fact that it only has four strings it would be my main bass. My other bass is a Traben Array Obsession. Sometimes a I pick it up and just can't get a good sound out of it, and I'm not really sure why. Other times I get this really great growly punchy sound from it. The fundamentals aren't very pronounced, the body always seems to resonate with and reinforce harmonics, so it has an overall sound that I'd describe as choral. This quality is enhanced greatly by playing very softly, so the bass has improved my playing by encouraging me to experiment with a great range of dynamics.

I love my heard. My beard is the container of which is all powerful. It is accented by a goatee and side a chin strap. However, it is the beard that contains the force of that which is supernatural.

[DEL]What I've got could never be confused with a beard. I guess I have too much Native American in me. I gave a beard a solid try for 9 months. I shaved the "sides" and kept the goat. My gal loves beards. She's with the wrong guy hahah SHHH don't tell!!![/DEL]

Not fast enough. I've kept it pretty short for the last 20 years or so, but now that I don't have to look a certain way for "the Man", I've been letting it grow. It's close to my shoulders, but still not long enough.

What's funnier, South Park or Futurama?
