Once is enough and we won't ask it of you again, maybe, but I have no doubt that if another piece of work with so much soul in it needed to get out. You'd find a way.

I got a lot more to write. A lot. You'll get sick of me.

And Ghosts went to the printer today. And the publisher tells me they have a marketing blitz planned.

I've contacted the Talkbass owners to see if we can work out a tie-in that'll get Talkbass members a discount plus bring more traffic to Talkbass and allow me to market the book here.

We'll see where that goes. My preference is to make Talkbass.com my main personal conversation zone. A Talkbass member is running the Ghosts Facebook page and will design my Web site, but I'm not really up to creating a personal Facebook account or Twitter account.

Last night I resigned from commenting on another blog (under a pseudonym) because what always happens on blogs is that I attract psychos who harass me for months. Why? It's in my nature, as they said in The Crying Game. There isn't a damn thing I can do about it. On that blog, one of my comments made a couple of guys feel genuine emotion, I suppose, so they got very angry and began calling me lots of homoerotic things. See, I was "putting on airs" by discussing things outside the realm of politics, booze, boobs, and sports. The harassing has gone on since the summer.

So last night I decided to go all Dada on them, and I answered every insult with something demented. When one of them dared me to come out to his state so we could fight (I'm sure he's a guy in his fifties), I said, [I removed this quote because someone Googled it and identified that blog and my pseudonym and traced me back to here. Surprise!]

So he dared me to tell him my address. My reply:

Finally, somebody complained that the flame wars were ruining his favorite blog, causing him actual pain, so I told him that I had no idea why I was under attack by people I didn't even know. It always happens. The attackers change, but the attacks always happen. But to spare this guy more pain, I told him I hereby resigned from the blog.

I won't miss it. Still, I'm not going to open myself up to those kinds of assaults on Facebook or Twitter, which I guarantee you 100 percent would happen, given the subject matter of my book. Making myself that available would draw every nutcase on the planet and destroy the pride and pleasure my book gives me.

So if I can work something out with Talkbass to have a sponsored forum, that's where I'll do all my talking, 'cause y'all are bassists, and I don't mind talking to bassists. We're different. We're better, actually. I'll write on my Web site that this will be the only place I talk to people, since it's moderated and there seem to be almost no psychos. I'm done with psychos. I've paid my psycho-dues.

In other news, Scott Thunes doesn't want me to say anything about our own project (he's shy), but he can't complain if I reveal that we've exchanged about thirty e-mails in the past few days as we strategize.

The proposal he sent to the publisher was like nothing I've ever seen. I read it to my mother, and she said, "It's like jazz improvisation but with words."

Got a long way to go on it, but I think 2013 is going to be a banner year for bass-oriented books, and I think Scott Thunes has a pretty secure future as a writer.

Finally read all of the pages of both of these threads...WOW!!!!! I'm so excited that you've written the book and that it's out for printing. I will certainly pick up a copy when it's released.

I've really enjoyed reading what you've written here on the forums and I enjoyed your stuff back in your bass player magazine days as well. I'm glad the forum was an inspiration to you to go forward with the book.

I'm also very proud of this forum that I'm a member of and the type of people we are, for the most part. It's great to see someone come in here and feel a sense of community.

Thanks very much. It's the best forum I've been a member of. Hopefully, I can repay the owners and the readers in some small way.
