Mr Wictor, I've seen these threads floating about for ages and never taken the time to look at them, and I just want to say that I'm monumentally glad that I did. It's been really wonderful hearing about your life and experiences, but more importantly your perspective.
So I just wanted to thank you for posting all this, and hope that I can get a hold of your book as soon as possible.

If you like the threads, you'll like the book. In the book, I was able to get into non-bass things, and I could expand on a lot of what I wrote here.
Again, thanks. I'm glad I let the Talkbass readers persuade me to write the book.
I'll keep that in mind.
If I become a rich and famous writer, maybe I'll barge into a thread here and shout, "Basses for everyone!"
Oprah once gave her whole audience cars. What they didn't realize was that they'd have to pay taxes on them. A lot of people had to sell the cars to pay the taxes.

You're welcome. The second and third volumes in the trilogy will expand on themes, scenes, and characters only lightly disguised. They'll make the memoir more understandable in a way that I couldn't when writing it.Ha! I'm easy.

Fender Aerodyne, Eh? Noted. When I first read "fine single malt," for some reason I thought it meant malt liquor.
That is not extravagant.
Actually, I lived in Stavanger from 1978 to 1981. I attended the Stavanger American School for the eleventh and twelfth grades, and then I worked for a year on a shore-support base, loading and unloading supply ships for the North Sea oil platforms.
I always wanted to interview Niels-Henning Ørsted Pederson, who I saw play in Stavanger at the Red Sea House Jazz Loft. Yes, I know he was Danish, but he was the first person I ever saw play a MusicMan Sting Ray, and he slapped it too. That was in 1978. Since I was into punk and the Police at the time, I didn't know a thing a thumb slapping.
Norwegian TV broadcast a lot of footage of NHØP playing electric bass, but I haven't seen it anywhere else.
