So, I used to use Amplitube for the little amount of home recording that I do. I bought the 8-track and a couple of amps, cost me the equivalent of around $80 (including the iRig adaptor).

Then I compared the sound that I was getting with my little 8" Ashdown combo that cost me $110 - the Ashdown was faaaaaaar better. Can't record from that though, with what I have available to me.

So, after reading a load of stuff on how Jamup is a so much better than Amplitube, I bought that, plus the 8-track and a couple of amps. Cost $33 equivalent. And also bought the Apogee jam, equivalent to $113.

And the Ashdown still sounds a hundred times better. I'm so disappointed at having spent nearly $230 on this stuff that I really don't like the sound of.

First of all, welcome Evil Undead,
i dont know your expertise in the subject but allow me to explain this a little...
A real amp with real bass speakers in the room with your bed room practice tone will always sound better to you in the room than a mic'ed cab recorded and listening on headphones like he said apples and oranges.
And putting the output of the iOS device to the ashdown will also be decent but will have to be altered when going to FOH or to a recording because the ashdown's preamp and speakers will color the tone you are sending much more than the headphones or PA.

Good luck on getting the recording interface and software and a better than decent mic in a perfect recording studio location with perfect mic placement and out board gear and a perfect mix from the ashdown for the price of both scenarios put together.

The iOS versions are able to give you a tool than allows you to fit your bass tone in the mix of a song super easy that sound like a mic'ed amp and cab.
Will you be able to dial in a "perfect" ashdown tone? Maybe...if you work at it. But unless you are putting it through a good PA like I do through a great hi fi stereo unit that can handle the bass. Then you are going to find it difficult to match a real world, in your room, ashdown. With headphones.
Through a PA (FOH) mix that I can get. Amplitube and jamup do both a fantastic job of a mic'ed amp and cab.

Don't be discouraged.
Play with different cabs and mics in AT or other pedals after the amps in jamup. You can find great tones in there that are very, very usable. It all depends on the mix of your output and who you are playing with to dial in a great bass tone.

Heck..... Even John Paul Jones's (or insert your favorite bass player's name here) mic'ed recorded bass sound doesn't sound anything like sitting next to and listening to his bass amp playing in the room live. It's all environment and settings, with the mix.

Sounds to me like you haven't quite gotten your input level set right. It'll sound a bit thin until you find the sweet spot. The slider at the upper right controls this.

Start by tweaking the gain on the Jam until it just barely flashes orange when you hit a string, then pull it back just a hair.

Then, in the slider in the upper right corner, tweak until you just barely get into the yellow when you hit a note.

That should help quite a bit. Also, make sure your device volume is turned up. That will "neuter" your tone quicker than anything.

Hi, I am new here, so please be patient with me. I have recently started using JamUp. I have found it a powerful piece of kit, and am enjoying playing with all the settings and effects. I am using it with a Midi pedal to allow me to switch patches, and to control volume etc. It works fine for most things. I have been trying to get the pedal to work with the Jam feature, to let me start and stop tracks, slow them down and to set loops on the fly. I can get the start/stop function to work, but get nowhere with changing the speed, which alters the dial but has no real effect on the track itself. I can find no way to set the A and B points in a track to create a loop. Has anyone else managed to successfully achieve this?

I have not had any experience using a the a-b part of jamup. i just have not needed it yet, others probably have. the pedalboard is something that i would like to get for presets and such, during performances.
Which midi "switcher" are you using?

I am using the Behringer FCB1010. It was relatively cheap, and took a while to programme, but works fine for switching patches, controlling volume, wah effects etc. Only tried it at home so far, not gigged with it yet.

Rip, I have tinnitus also. I was told and found that if i keep my caffeine intake down it helps. I need hearing aids I am missing the frequencies of a woman,s voice...some may say a blessing but when your wife is constantly annoyed because she thinks you are ignoring her.

So what are you running on My Apology...very cool stuff as I am just starting to get started in this avenue.

I have the Animoog. I've been using it, playing with it, for about 3 months. It's a cool synth if you like (or have time to) making your own sounds, its presents are kinda lame (IMO). Works great as a midi plug-in. But if you like preset sounds, there are better synths with better presets out there. I also bought Magellan, which is a very competent synth and has good presets.

My wife is getting irritated at always having to repeat herself!

My Apology used Jamup, running the Acoustic 360 with the Merrow OD, the Boss Chorus, the HpF-Pre, the digital reverb, and the Q-tron. Whew! Lots of stuff going on there.
