Most of my bass solos are pretty sick … and not the cool kind of sick.

This is a prime example of what a bass track sounds like when you're on 48 hours with 3 hours of sleep. More Jade Season shenanigans. Just a proof for April for the bassline.

For my next trick, I'll put my eyeballs behind my eyelids.

Spector Rebop 4MM for main bass part and for melody (has a touch of reverb) - done in Garageband using Apogee Jam as bass input.

I can see how the Orange would work well with the Ric. I still haven't found my sweet spot on that amp. With my P it seems like its missing something, and with my J it's really boomy. I've played with it a bit with the new para-EQ, and that seems to help. I guess I need to spend some quality time with the AD-200.

I found my true love with the 360, so I'm a bit slow to fall for the others. Now that I'm working solo, I'll have more time to work on my tone instead of just trying to get loud. My Acoustic combo amp took a crap at last rehearsal, finally gave up after driving it so hard to keep up with the mic'd drums at rehearsal (yeah, seriously).

At the gig Friday night, I used the Acoustic (my B200) with my Carvin powered sub under it. No PA support, but both the drums and guitar were in the FOH. I was left to try to keep up with their volume, which was no easy feat. My amp is 200 watts, and I took the DI out of my amp into the powered sub and crossed-over at 80hz. All my deep lows were the sub, which was kept under control by the HPF-Pre, which I used to remove the low end rumble. My bass was loud and aggressive, but the third set when they pushed the volume up, I left my volume alone and just let them drown me out. I figured that would make it obvious what the problem was. I was right, the crowd noticed.

I'm gonna be working on Adam and I's tune today, while working up some new presets. Now that I'm on my own, I don't have to cater to the opinions that my bass tone should be flat and lifeless. I can sound like ME again.

I spent the day yesterday listening to some old recording and trying to decide which songs I want to re-record for this solo project. I've got no shortage of material, and now that the stress is gone, the ideas are flowing nicely.

Try to back of the volume on the neck pup a bit on your jazz.
Btw, I do not use the AD200 alone, it doesn't cut alone as it is. Not unless it is a ballad where you want huge low end

Yeah, the AD-200 seems to really need something in the top end. Hopefully it will be fixed in a future update, and give it more highs and mids. The new Para-EQ helps a little but not quite enough.

I'm gonna try putting the BDDI in front of it and see what happens.

well.......
I didn't come on here saturday except for the morning and not at all yesterday....I was so busy with church and kids award ceremonies and working on the contest song that i just didn't make it on ... the thread shut down and started a new and has blown up[ again. :)

Great work as always Rudy Dukey. Evangellos once again has made me wish i had spent more time on my guitar playing. your getting some great tone.
Duke scared my children with his vocals. LOL Just kidding. they haven't heard it. I heard it first thing this morning at work.
The space vikings song was awesome. the bar has been set high for the contest already.

I'm really excited about Adam and I's song. I sent him a drum track with a blank canvas, and he returned a guitar track that is totally awesome!!

Now he's working on completing the guitar track (his first track is great but only partial), then I'll sync it to my drum track in MTDAW, and add bass.

I totally can't play guitar - but I figure I get good enough noise out of it to put on my tracks. (Some of you may disagree! LOL!)

I purchased a couple of electrics to have around when guitar playing friends show up so they don't need to bring their own.

I bought an SX strat copy used from a TB dood for $80. This thing weighs a ton, but is quite pretty. It also has a perfectly Quarter Sawn neck. The problem is that it needs a fret job, and I'm not paying for it.

Then I traded my CV 60s P ( fiesta red, just like Dukes ). It was an awesome player but my wife was complaining that I had too many bass laying around. So, I put it up for sale and ended up trading it for a Korean Parker P-36. The thing just plays itself, I swear. (And taught her a lesson about telling me to sell my gear!)

Anyway, can't wait to hear what you two are coming up with for the contest. I'm bracing myself for something pretty amazing.

I played guitar in the first bands i was in and sang lead too.
but it has been a while since i have done any "guitar" work and my fingertips are feeling it today :)
i have an old late 80's early 90's black and white Peavey Predator that i used back then.
I've done so much bass playing since then i don't have any soundcloud guitar recordings....sound cloud is such a recent thing to me. just amp sim tryouts for test drive tones on bass just to see where it may need to be tweaked for presets.

This contest is so exciting, and I don't even care who wins! Already some great new music happening, and we've only got a few entries.

I'm so stoked about what Adam sent me. I purposely made him go first on our project, in hopes that he would play something totally outside my comfort zone. And he didn't disappoint. Can't wait for you guys to hear our track!!
